**Job Title**:Head of Clinical Care

**Overall Purpose**:
To work in partnership with the Head of Person Centred Care and the clinical teams to assist the
Care Centre Manager (CCM) in the delivery of high quality, customer focused and person centred services to Centre customers within agreed financial resources which maximises their independence and quality of live within a safe and secure environment. To provide effective operational and clinical leadership and management of all clinical care services delivered within the Centre ensuring compliance with current regulatory requirements. To develop and maintain an effective clinical governance framework for the Centre to ensure the excellence of nursing/care provided to customers. To contribute to the continuous improvement and development of all services within the
Centre to meet the needs of current and prospective customers.
**Principal Accountabilities**:
**Planning and organising**
- To support the development and embedding of a person centred culture and approach within the Centre to support the delivery of high quality, customer focused and person centred services to customers in order to maximise their independence and quality of life.
- To ensure quality assurance programmes are consistently implemented within the Centre’s clinical care services.
- To assist the Care Centre Manager (CCM) in the implementation of strategic plans for the Centre.
- To assist the CCM in the preparation of costed business plans for the Centre.
- To ensure that up to date and accurate person centred care plans for customers in receipt of clinical care services are developed and maintained on the care planning system within the
Centre.
- To ensure suitably skilled, qualified, experienced and highly motivated colleagues are recruited, retained and developed within the clinical care team to meet service needs.
- To ensure that clinical care staffing resources are planned, managed and deployed at all times in order to deliver safe and quality care.
- To ensure the effective implementation of Ben’s organisational policies and procedures within the clinical care team and support effective implementation throughout the Centre.
- To contribute as required to the development of nursing/care and other operational policies and procedures which support the delivery of person centred and customer focused services within the business and ensure their implementation within the clinical care team.
- To contribute to the maintenance of management information systems within the Centre.
- To ensure that effective reporting procedures are maintained with the CCM.
- To undertake pre-admission assessments in line with Ben’s policies and procedures to ensure the
Centre is able to safely meet customers’ needs.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Business focus**
- To support the CCM in the implementation and maintenance of the standards required by legislation related to the registration of the Centre.
- To ensure compliance with current Fire, Health & Safety at Work, Environmental Health and associated legislation by ensuring that Ben’s policies and procedures are implemented within clinical care services and that safe procedures and practices are carried out at all times, following appropriate reporting arrangements as required.
- To promote and maintain a safeguarding culture within the Centre and within the clinical care team ensuring that Ben’s safeguarding procedures and protocols are effectively implemented in order to maintain a safe and secure environment for customers.
- To ensure issues relating to a customer’s clinical condition and vulnerability are identified in a timely manner, and to provide advice and guidance in care planning and risk assessment to safeguard the individual.
- To develop and maintain effective clinical governance for nursing practice to ensure excellence in the clinical services provided and which ensures customers safety and wellbeing at all times.
- To undertake robust and comprehensive investigations of incidents and complaints as directed by the CCM and record and report outcomes in line with Ben’s policies and procedures.
**Communication**
- To ensure all communications and interactions with customers, relatives and other stakeholders is effective, sensitive and professional.
- To maintain effective communication and collaboration with GP’s, other medical professionals, the wider multi-disciplinary team within the Centre and other outside agencies to meet customers, social, emotional, health and welfare needs.
- To communicate and engage with all the clinical care team and where appropriate other colleagues within the Centre to ensure they are fully informed about matters which affect their day to day work and practice and develop their knowledge and understanding of Ben as an organ
