**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
** Screening/information gathering. **Blood pressure checks, height, weight, BMI,
urinalysis, smoking status, pulse, temperature, pulse oximetry, diabetic foot checks.
- **Venepuncture. **Take blood samples as requested or in line with practice procedures.
- **ECG Recording**. Carry out ECG's for interpretation by a GP
- **Health Promotion**. Carry out new patient checks, NHS health checks and provide lifestyle advice.
- **Administration of medication**. Flu vaccinations, Pneumococcal Vaccinations, B12 (desirable)
- **Medical Students**. Accommodate medical students observing clinics and provide demonstrations as requested by GP
- Maintaining medical equipment for patients as needed.
- **Chaperone**. Act as a chaperone as required.
- **Non-clinical**. Stock ordering (medical), Health Promotion Materials, room maintenance, clinical waste and fridge temperature monitoring.
- **Home visits**. Visits with supervision from Practice Nurse for housebound/Care Home patients to carry out the above duties as required.
- **Advanced: Spirometry**. Undertake spirometry / reversibility as requested by a GP
- **Audit**. Participate in practice audit as directed by the audit lead
- **Local initiatives**. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
- **Continuing Professional development**. Support and participate in shared learning within the Practice. Performing other related duties as assigned by the Practice Manager or Clinical Supervisor.

**Requirements**:

- Must be able to pass a criminal background check to qualify for employment in the healthcare field.
- Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment.
- A professional demeanour and ability to maintain composure in high volumes of patient visits.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and prioritise accordingly.
- Professional writing skills.

**Job Type**: Part-time. Mondays & Wednesdays : 18 hours with flexibility for additional hours, especially following bank holidays.

**Job Summary**:To support the Practice Nursing Team in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the Practice multidisciplinary team, deliver care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population. The healthcare assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.
