We are looking for enthusiastic member of staff to join our friendly and dedicated team. The role of the job is multifaceted and will perform a key role within the surgical division. The role will challenging, rewarding and good organisational skills will be required. Experience in this field is an advantage but not necessary as training will be provided. The post is permanent and working across the unit will may be required

To work as part of the team in providing support within the surgical unit.

The post holder should be able to work well within a team and have the ability to relate to all grades of staff in the working environment and with members of the general public.

To work under the supervision of the Pre-Op Manager and follow protocols on patient assessments, admissions, bookings and transfers.

Answering telephone queries in a polite and efficient manner.

Ensuring the Lorenzo system is up to date and that the clinic correlates with system.

Organising patient’s notes.

Filing results and letters in patient’s notes.

Transferring patient notes to relevant departments.

Chase up patient diagnostics with relevant department.

Booking of ambulances, when directed to do so.

Obtain relevant admission information for the MDT/Anaesthetic meetings on patients prior to patient admission.

Provide clerical support for the unit manager and the Pre-Op team.

Obtaining blood results from the computer system.

Delivering messages to appropriate staff and department, including referral forms to consultants.

Maintaining all relevant information boards that the ward may have.

When directed, arrange with bookers any pre-admission visits that may be required and arrange them with relatives if required.

To show own duties to new administration staff within the department.

Communicate with others must be polite, professional and courteous with patients and their relatives/carers, with nursing staff and medical staff and the wider MDT team members.

Communicate with other personnel within the multi-disciplinary teams and professional staff from other outside organisations.

Ordering stationery when required.

Monitoring computer and printing equipment and reporting any issues to supervisor.

Ordering additional stock as and when requested.

Obtaining items from Pharmacy/Stores.

Occasionally escorting patients to other departments.

Ensuring the ward office is kept generally tidy.

In accordance with the provision of the Trust Terms and Conditions.

In accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

To act at all times to the requirements of the Data Protection Act.

To adhere to the Policies and Procedures of the Trust at all times.

To participate in appropriate training and development activities.

To participate in team meetings.
