Overview and Responsibilities: **Location**: Darwen, Lancashire **Salary: £11.00 p/hr** **Hours**: 10 hours per week term time only We have 2 positions available. One working 7am - 9am Monday-Friday and one working 2.30pm - 4.30pm Monday -Friday. The Aurora Woodlands School is an **'Good' rated** **innovative provider of education and care,** supporting young boys aged 10 - 19 with complex needs typically related to Asperger’s Syndrome, Autism and other conditions. **The main purpose of the role**: As our Driver/Escort, your role will be to provide a safe, efficient and effective transportation service for pupils who use Aurora services, acting within Aurora and statutory guidance at all times to ensure the safety, health and welfare of pupils at all times. You will be required to collect pupils on a daily basis (am and pm) from their place of residence and transport them to the Aurora Woodlands School, and return home from school at the required time. These the routes can sometimes total and exceed 2 hours. You must ensure a safe and compliant service of transportation of pupils, in line with the statutory driving legislation and Aurora policies and procedures in relation to health and safety and safeguarding. This will include carrying out your own risk assessments during your transport route, sometimes there will be instances of behaviours which challenge and you would be expected to de-escalate as required. It will also be your responsibility to inspect, clean and maintain transportation vehicles in line with Aurora policies and procedures. **Key Duties** - Ensure pupils arrive at school on a daily basis in time for registration - Report any safeguarding concerns on arrival at school to the Safeguarding Manager - Maintain driver safety by driving within the speed limit at all times and ensuring all passengers wear seat belts - Maintain vehicle log record on a daily basis - Any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role - Return pupils home at the required time - Work in partnership with key staff to ensure risk assessments are up to date - Build positive, trusting and professional relationships with children to support safe transportation. - **This role requires lone working and may include travelling across the motorway network.** Skills and Qualifications: **Skills and Qualifications**: - Must hold a clean, UK driving licence - Have a minimum of 2 years driving experience and be over 21 (for insurance purposes) - Have excellent communication skills, be tolerant and demonstrate a caring approach - Must be reliable with excellent timekeeping skills Benefits and Additional Information: **What’s on offer?** - Full training (if required) and continued support - Life assurance and pension - Health cash back plan - claim back money for things like dentist and opticians costs - Car lease scheme - Perk box - this gives you access to hundreds of discounts on high street stores and restaurants - Free parking The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Aurora Group is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children." **The Aurora Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and young adults in our care and is a disability confident and equal opportunities employer
