Casual Mini-bus Driver

**JOB DESCRIPTION & SPECIFICATION**

**Job Title**: School Mini-Bus Driver

**Reporting to**:Assistant Principal

**Contract Basis **Part time/Casual

Approx. 10 hours per week

SCP 07 - £10.60 p/h

**Overall Purpose of the Role**:
To be responsible for providing transport for pupils from various locations before and after school.

**Key Duties**:

- To transport pupils and school staff from the school buildings to other locations around Blackburn with Darwen and on occasions the wider area using the school minibus.
- To build a positive relationship with those travelling in the school minibus.
- To maintain the school minibus and ensure that it is kept in a clean and safe condition.
- To deploy other skills that contribute to the development of Darwen Vale High School.
- To drive the school minibus to specified locations.
- To be responsible for the condition of the school minibus, carrying out vehicle checks, cleaning and routine maintenance of vehicle and ensuring safe keeping.
- Ensure all passengers are seated and safely wearing seatbelts.
- To respond to passenger needs where appropriate in the provision of transport.
- Understand and follow routes, schedules and street maps.

**JOB DESCRIPTION & SPECIFICATION**
- Liaise politely and effectively between customers and management.
- To assist with the implementation of school arrangements for health and safety.
- To abide by the objectives and targets of the school and follow the procedures and practices utilised in all aspects of work, including computerised and manual systems and the maintenance of relevant records as required.
- Fulfil personal requirements where appropriate with regard to school policies and procedures, particularly health and safety, equal opportunities, customer care, emergency evacuation, security and work standards and promotion of the school's core values.
- To contribute to the overall work and ethos of the school.
- To work as part of a team and support the role of other people in the team and to establish constructive relationships with other agencies / professionals in liaison with the teacher, to support the achievement and progress of pupils.
- To attend and participate in meetings as required.
- To undertake personal development and improve own practice through training, observation, evaluation.
- Fulfil any other duties as requested by the Principal / SLT

The post holder will be required to have a valid Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service
(DBS) certificate and be re-checked every 3 years as per **Darwen Vale High School** procedures.

**Requirements Essential Desirable**

**_Education _**

Must have a full, clean Driving Licence for 3 years and DI Y entitlement

Current Midas certificate/minibus driver training certificate or Y any other driving qualification

**_Experience _**

Transporting young people. Y

Daily vehicle checks and vehicle defect reporting

Be able to understand and follow street maps, keeping to timed schedules and be able to liaise politely with customers and Y management

Ability to work as part of a team Y
