**The post holder will be responsible for**: Providing specialist speech and language therapy assessment and intervention for young people with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) who are accessing the Youth Justice Services (YJS). Supporting discussions related to young people and the impact of their SLCN. Working as an autonomous practitioner within the service, being professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your work. Managing a complex caseload, using evidence-based, client-centred principles, to provide highly specialised assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation and co-ordination of therapy intervention, for complex communication needs in the most appropriate setting.
Planning and initiating your own continued professional development through researching best practice, networking with colleagues and seeking training opportunities. Training, supervision and appraisal for named staff, and to be responsible for training and performance management of allocated speech and language therapy students. Providing highly specialist knowledge, skills, training and advice to children, young people and their families, and providing a source of expertise for staff, other professionals as part of the MDT and other agencies. Identifying, initiating and implementing service developments.
Contributing to the running and development of the Speech and Language service through audit, development of policies, procedures and guidelines using evidence-based practise.
