We offer a variety of work and there is scope to learn new skills which are centred around masonry, lime plastering, concrete repairs and structural repairs including piling and ground anchors.

**The Role**

In this role you will work as part of a team supporting the Foreman or Person in Charge to complete jobs/contracts in an efficient, co-operative and constructive manner. Some of your key responsibilities will be:

- Contribute to the effective planning of your work and inform the Foreman/Person in Charge of any issues which may affect the completion of the job to time
- Plan tasks assigned to you; think a task through and clarify any areas of confusion with the Foreman/Person in Charge to avoid any mistakes or misunderstandings
- Develop knowledge/technique of the services St Astier supplies through on-the-job experience, striving to learn all you can from the Foreman/Person in Charge and other colleagues
- Take responsibility for your own personal development, constantly assessing your own performance to identify areas for improvement and request additional training/mentoring where appropriate; keep written records of any situations where your performance may have excelled
- Work unsupervised when required, take responsibility for the completion of tasks, acting on own initiative when faced with minor problems
- Maintain a level of responsibility and duty of care towards your own Health & Safety and the Health & Safety of others on-site. Identify any risks/hazards and take action on your own initiative to reduce such risks; inform the Foreman/Person in Charge of hazardous site conditions

Due to the location and types of clients we sometimes work for you will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check. This is usually required if we are working within a school setting.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Have desire to learn and develop with the job
- Be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Be willing to work outside the North East and stay away from home where required
- Be able to work in all weather conditions
- Be flexible regarding working hours
- Be willing to do overtime (including weekends)
- Hold a full UK driver licence

**Desirable Requirements**:

- CSCS card
- Experience of using relevant equipment, plant and machinery
- Interest in structural repairs, specialist concrete repairs and stone restoration
- Health & Safety certificates
- Experience in trailer towing
