We are seeking a full time Medical Secretary to join our busy surgery.

Experience within a GP SURGERY only and must be Emis trained, ,Provide high quality, competent secretarial and administrative support to support the delivery of an efficient and friendly service to our patients. Directly support patient referral, access to health and social care services and provide professional support to the clinical and supporting team. Must be able to use initiative, be computer-literate and a keen learner. To become trained at a level whereby support and training can be given to other members of the team on appropriate systems.
Will need to cover additional hours during absence of colleagues and cover reception if needed.

**Responsibilities**:

- Accurately complete and type referral letters, electronic forms, general correspondence and other communications.
- Utilise e-referrals, or any other appropriate systems, to support the referral and booking of appropriate patient services.
- Liaise with patients to keep them informed about their healthcare and respond to telephone enquiries from patients, health professionals and the Practice team.
- Appropriately action tasks sent to the secretarial team in a timely manner.
- Provide up to date information to the practice team on appropriate services and systems for referrals.
- Maintain accurate medical records such as referral information, screening results and patient contact details.
- Ensure that private services are provided appropriately, such as private reports, and patients/agencies notified of fees and settlement received.
- Undertake other secretarial duties as and when required such as taking minutes at meetings, typing reports and preparing presentations.
- Support clinical leads in their roles to include safeguarding and palliative care.

Ensure all work complies with strict Practice policies and procedures to ensure the
protection of our patients, members of the Practice team and the wider community.
- Any other duties which may be appropriate for this post.
