Irish Community Care (ICC) has been supporting Irish, Irish by Descent, Irish Traveller and Gypsy Traveller communities across Merseyside and the North West for over 60 years. We support people access services, overcome challenges with benefits and housing, and bring communities together through our Advice and Advocacy service, community programmes and volunteer work. We work with some of the most disadvantaged communities in the area, supporting over a thousand people each year. **Job Details**
Job Title: Advice and Advocacy Worker
Contract: Fixed term - 3 years
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
**Salary**: £28,371 - £32,020
Location: Liverpool office with travel across our operational area
Reports to: Community Services Manager
**What the job involves**
You'll deliver our frontline Advice and Advocacy service. This is a hands-on role where you'll support Community Members to access the right services and support to resolve both immediate and crisis situations, and more enduring issues.
**Main responsibilities**
**Advice and Advocacy Work**
- See Community Members for appointments and assess what support they need
- Give advice on benefits, housing, citizenship, employment etc
- Represent people at tribunals and appeals
- Fill in forms and write letters
- Make referrals to other services
- Keep case records and write reports
**Community Work**
- Run advice sessions at community groups and older people's clubs
- Visit people at home who can't get to the office
- Work in prisons supporting prisoners and their families
- Help people access health services, training and other opportunities
- Support people to report hate crime
- Encourage community involvement in local decision-making
**Working with others**
- Work with housing associations, council departments, health services, DWP etc
- Attend case conferences and review meetings
- Build relationships with GPs, social workers and other professionals
- Support ICC's other activities like fundraising events
**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 36 months
Pay: £28,371.00-£32,020.00 per year
