Working alongside the Team you will play an important role in providing highlevel and professional HR, Reward and Job Evaluation expertise, ensuring the delivery of reward, policy and benefits which meet the operational needs of Buckinghamshire Council
**About the role**
As a HR Consultant you will have a number of responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:

- Manage operational reward and cyclical activities, including annual pay review processes, reporting including gender pay gap reporting, market benchmarking of roles etc.
- Contribute to developing Council strategy within Pay and Reward so that efficient, relevant systems, policies, and procedures are designed, developed, integrated, implemented, and maintained.
- Manage the day to day pay and reward activity ensuring the Council has the information it requires to make business decisions.
- Monitor external changes and developments in pay and reward, identify their potential impact and make recommendations.
- Identify areas of organisational risk in relation to pay and reward e.g., equal pay and recommend procedures to address these
- Produce and analyse pay and reward data from the HR System. Use data to inform and support strategic decision making, producing, presenting, and disseminating comprehensive reports, business cases, documentation, plans etc, as required. Ensuring that conclusionsand recommendations support strategic decision making within the Council and are based on up-to-date specialist knowledge and research and fulfil statutory and procedural obligations.
- Provide expert advice, guidance, information and support to HR colleagues, managers, and headteachers on the full range of technical, professional, complex, and sometimes sensitive issues relating to HR Policy, reward and terms and conditions of employment,some requiring behavioural change within the organisation.
- Carry out Job Evaluation and give advice and guidance to managers and Headteachers on organisation design.
- Horizon scanning for future changes in legislation and reward development to ensure the Council is legally compliant and operating best practice in employee reward.

The Aylesbury office is conveniently situated in the town centre (HP20 area) with great transport links including a local train station and excellent road connections to the M25, M1, M4 and M40
**About you**
We are looking for a HR Generalist with experience of Reward or Reward specialist supporting project work including analysis of pay and reward data from HR Systems
Experience of external benchmarking to support Reward decisions.
Provide expert advice, guidance, information and support to HR colleagues, managers, and headteachers on the full range of technical, professional, complex, and sometimes sensitive issues relating to HR Policy, reward and terms and conditions of employment
Experience with Hay scheme Job Evaluator
Must have intermediate Excel skills at a minimum
The work of the team is varied and fast-paced so we are looking for an experienced and highly organised individual who can manage competing priorities and work independently and as part of a team. You will need to be empathetic with our service users and ableto use your initiative when dealing with queries.
Comprehensive knowledge of relevant processes, systems, policies and procedures will be essential, as will good knowledge of other areas of the authority relevant to the service.
Due to the frequent liaison activities, excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
You will need to be highly accurate with attention to detail. You must be able to prioritise and work to deadlines.
You take responsibility for your work and are trusted to perform your job to the best of your ability.
