Systems Support Officer

A vacancy has arisen within the Operations and Support Team of the Revenues & Benefits Shared Service.
The job is primarily involved in the provision of system support for Revenues and Benefits users across Preston and Lancaster, working in conjunction with the IT Teams to improve service delivery.
The successful applicant will be responsible for system reconciliation, and the provision and analysis of management information, both statistical and performance related. The appointment is full time permanent and hybrid working applies at either Preston or Lancaster.
An aptitude for IT systems and a technical mind is essential for this role, and a knowledge of
Local Government, in particular Council Tax, Business Rates and Benefits is desirable.
Other duties include:
- Monitor and review the effectiveness of IT systems within the service, recommending solutions to problems and suggest improvements and developments, in consultation with users and Information Services, to improve service delivery
- Implement, test and develop any new systems, or new releases to existing systems, in conjunction with IT departments, software suppliers and relevant staff within the service.
- Liaise with Information Services on “user issues” ensuring compliance with corporate standards.
- Ensure the smooth day to day management and control of all matters relating to IT systems in use, whilst maximising availability.
- Administer System reconciliation procedures, ensuring that funds remain in balance and liaise with Financial Services regarding discrepancies and Collection Fund issues.
