This 23-month post is an excellent opportunity to be part of the team working at Wellbank House with young people in a residential setting. You will be a full-time member of the Team working on rotational basis over 24hrs providing support 365 days.
At Wellbank we try to make a positive difference to young people’s lives who need a little extra support to move forward. The team support young people aged 16-24 moving into adulthood toward greater independence.
Our young people face difficult challenges which require you to have understanding and commitment to working with complex needs and life challenges relating to homelessness, leaving care, asylum seeking and just being a young person in the current climate.
This post will fulfil our vision and ambition to support positive transitions back to Perth for those looked after young people in external residential placements and private foster care arrangements.
You should have direct experience in working with vulnerable or at risk young people, or, have transferable skills and knowledge about issues they may face and how you may help manage these within a team setting as well as autonomously.
The Team promote the welfare of young people who are seeking greater independence and provide a professional service to a range of young people and significant people in their lives. We need to have skills in assessing need, managing risk, making recommendations, be flexible, realistic and patient in preparing young people for the next steps. You need to be kind, caring and compassionate, as well as the ability and confidence to manage difficult behaviours at times.

**The Individual**:
You should have have experience of supporting children and young people in a residential setting or have clear understanding of the issues relating to working with young adults experiencing change in these circumstances.
You should be able to evidence ability to communicate and work well with young people and professionals, as well as work independently and as part of a team.
You will be required to register with the SSSC and continue to meet ongoing registration requirements.
You are required to have a minimum of an HNC in Social Services (or equivalent) and SVQ 3 Social Services and Healthcare that meets SSSC registration requirements for a Support Worker in Housing Support Services. Training can be offered to meet SVQ Level 3 within agreed timescales.
