**Salary**: PPS6 £21,968 per annum pro rata (£11.39 per hour)

Our client is a successful and oversubscribed 11 - 16 academy and the library is at the heart of the Winterbeck building. Stocked with over 8,000 fiction and non-fiction books, all of which are catalogued both with Dewey numbers and Accelerated Reader ZPDcodes, and nine computer workstations, it forms the centre point for the school’s reading culture.

**The Role**

The Academy is seeking to appoint a passionate, enthusiastic, dynamic and highly organised Reading Champion to be an important part of their curriculum support team covering for a maternity leave. You will work closely with the English faculty maintaining,promoting, and developing the library, its resources, and their students’ love of reading. In addition, you will work closely with the Careers Advice and Guidance Lead to build and maintain the Careers Library and support the work of the Careers Leader.

The Reading Champion will be a passionate promoter of reading and a keen reader themselves and be in a position to advise their voracious readers at the Academy, finding suitable and engaging materials to promote reading for the pleasure of all their students.You will help support their developing reader programme by managing the Paired Reader scheme, training the peer reading mentors and help track and monitor the development of all of their readers, through the use of Renaissance Learning’s Accelerated Readerprogramme, and the Eclipse lending system. Working alongside key staff, you will support the curriculum by coordinating resources. You will plan and organise the Careers interviews with the external provider and work collaboratively to plan, organise and runcareer focused events in school.
