We are looking for people to join our Ofsted rated Outstanding team in The Culham Science Centre Nursery and Preschool in Abingdon.

**Duties**:

- With support ensure that you understand your role in safeguarding children and how to recognise, report and record any concerns.
- Ensure that all children in your care are safe, and avoid preventable accidents through constant supervision and observation both indoors and out.
- To support, encourage, and care for all children’s personal needs. Including hand washing, nappy changing, nose wiping, toilet training, feeding, and promoting independence.
- To ensure you support your key children with all their individual care needs, as well as planning age appropriate and fun activities. Including using the EYFS to plan for all areas of learning both indoors and outdoors
- With support, observe each child’s development constantly through spontaneous, narrative, and photo observations. Review and up date your key children’s progress in their profiles, and feedback to parents daily on achievements, difficulties, interests,and interactions with others.
- Throughout the day, recognise when children need a change of clothes, a cuddle of reassurance, or their face wiped. Make sure they are clean, happy, and ready for their parents to take home at any point of the day.
- To positively encourage good behaviour and manners around the nursery from the children, by being a good role model.
- Welcome all parents, visitors and new or prospective staff into your room being polite, welcoming, and smiling. Pay attention to prospective parents to ensure they see your wonderful interactions and activities with the children.
- With support from your Room Leader, work in partnership with parents as a key person talking to them daily whilst taking their child in the morning, as well as feedback at the end of each day. Ensure they are fully informed about their child, the room,and the nursery in a professional manner.
- Contribute ideas towards a development plan for your room. Review the resources and availability of activities, keeping your Room Leader informed of any ideas you have on how to make positive changes.
- Take direction from the Room Leader, Senior staff and Nursery Management Team.
- Contribute to creating fun and educational displays in your room with the children, including displays at their level.
- Ensure all children are represented, all areas of the EYFS displayed, and reward charts in place.
- Positively contribute to the team morale. E.G have a positive can-do attitude, show dedication in your quality of work, be interested in progressing in your role, and be supportive of the nursery in general.
- Be a reliable member of the team; arriving on time for your shift, covering other rooms and nurseries where needed, and maintaining a high attendance record.
- Follow Oxfordshire Nurseries policy and practice at all times
- Contribute to the daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks. Ensure equipment and toys are taken care of, maintained, and put away at the end of each day.
- Complete first aid training as well and follow policy and practice in relation to accident and illness.

**Working Hours**:
Monday to Friday, a total of 40 hours per week.

**About the Training**:
Over the course of 15 - 18 months (dependent upon the level of course an apprentice is being enrolled onto), you will study units such as health & safety in a childcare setting, holistic child development, safeguarding in a childcare setting, child development,communication with children, purposeful play and educational programmes, supporting children with special educational needs, collaborative working in early years childcare, wellbeing principles for children and at higher levels, child protection, data, supportingkey life transitions and behaviour management (these modules may differ).

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, you will achieve a Level 2 or 3 qualification and a TQUK Diploma in Early Years.
