Salary range £35,000 to £43,000 gross per annum.

Role overview:
A vacancy has arisen for a Packing & Despatch Supervisor for Imerys Aluminates Limited based at West Thurrock.

The position is Monday to Friday 7 hours per day.

Summary of the role:
- Manages the safety of the Packing and Despatch team- Provides high quality service by the timely and accurate delivery of products to ensure customer satisfaction- Manages the Packing & Despatch team to ensure that objectives and performance targets are met- Provides accurate, reliable and timely Management Reporting data through the use of appropriate systems- Define the packing programme considering open orders and JNI

Health and Safety:
- Protects the health and safety of his team and the logistic suppliers on site. Ensures that work completed by the team is in line with the Company Health and Safety policy and Environmental Policy.- Has specific knowledge of safety procedures: Statutory Health and Safety as well as the Company Health and Safety Document.- Conducts behavioural safety audits to audit compliance by others working on site in the wearing of PPE and the adherence to safety procedures.- Has responsibility for conducting risk assessments and is proactive in the development of safe working procedures.- Respects all site safety rules including those applicable for the safe engagement of contractors and visitors.- Is actively involved in safety issues on site and undertakes regular safety observations.- Does not start a task, or stops each on-going task if he/she feels the situation is unsafe. When possible takes the necessary actions to make it safe.

Key responsibilities:
- Ensures that no reject product (quality, packaging, out of date) is ever despatched and that packed products are not deteriorated during storage or loading and that the organisation of the storage area gives a strong impression of professionalism. Liaise with the laboratory to guarantee quality products for our customers.- Has knowledge of Internal Product Specifications; understanding of quality tests and implications of process actions on quality- Co-ordinates collection and delivery of product samples to customers as required.- Maintains a high standard of all packaging and of the purges / sieving to ensure no complaints for presentation, contamination, lumps or grains.- Organises recycling of rejects within his team or with contractors as soon as rejects are generated.- Manages allocated full time employees. Responsible for carrying out the Company disciplinary procedures, time keeping review, authorising holiday requests, organising training, and overtime when required.- Plans and organises the packing programme, utilising stock management tools where applicable, taking into account the requirements of the Production Manager, Engineering and Sales departments, to ensure timely stock coverage with adherence to JNI philosophy whenever possible.- Has responsibility for reaching a high K4 on the Packing Plant, on the Big Bag Machine and high efficiency of bulk loading operations, with key emphasis on reducing vehicle loading times.- Has responsibility for playing a key role to improve K3 on the packing line by creating improvements with the Engineering Department, by an accurate reporting of breakdowns, actions (job requests), by diagnosing likely causes of future breakdowns, by locating faults or causes of bad performance by constantly checking all plant (by himself or through his team).- Has responsibility for leased fork-lift trucks within the department (training, contract and safety aspects).- Has responsibility for data capture and reporting on stock levels and packing performance, feeding into the Prod Plan monthly stock take requirement and providing weekly, monthly and annual reports as required- Has responsibility for recommending improvements, updates and applied QMS procedures in order to reach his main assignments (packing, storage, purges).- Has responsibility for (working with Facilities Supervisor) cleaning the entire plant to the required standards through the management of temporary and permanent labour. Liaises directly with the agency on the temporary labour provision, in cooperation with the production and maintenance teams to provide labour for general cleaning and shut preparation.- Has responsibility for timely purchasing for all production consumable products (pallets, sacks, big bags, shrink wrap) optimising price, performances and stock levels. (Sack prices are negotiated by Head Office)- Covers the duties of Mixing Plant Supervisor or Facilities Supervisor when required- Any other duties as required by business needs
