**Job Introduction**:
Are you an experienced **Transport Planner** looking for your next permanent role?
We’re seeking a proactive and detail-oriented **Transport Planner** to join our welcoming team at our Snodland, Kent office. In this role, you’ll report directly to the **Distribution Supervisor** and play a key part in ensuring smooth communication with all stakeholders. You’ll be responsible for delivering timely updates on planned responses to programme changes, as well as managing daily and weekly schedules—including Out of Hours operations.
**Main responsibilities**:
The role of **Transport Planner** is key to ensuring the smooth and cost-effective distribution of our products, while maintaining high service standards for both internal and external customers. You’ll work closely with fleet teams, planners, and strategic partners to optimise transport operations and respond effectively to changing demands.
**Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to)**:
- Supporting fleet teams, transport planners, and weighbridge staff to maximise vehicle utilisation and minimise haulier queries
- Delivering excellent service and communication to internal and external customers
- Ensuring cost-effective distribution of Tarmac products
- Managing material service levels through detailed pre-planning and regular engagement with strategic customers
- Responding swiftly and efficiently to unplanned events impacting programme adherence or service delivery
- Creating transport programmes that enhance fleet utilisation and operational efficiency
- Building strong relationships with external customers to support the area’s commercial strategy
- Communicating capacity plans and forward programmes clearly to all stakeholders
The role of Transport Planner is a Monday - Friday role with a rostered Saturday AM in rotation. We have core hours but start and finish times can be earlier or later around these to operate a team balance
The ideal** Transport Planner**will have experience of working in a similar role and environment as well as:
- Experience of health and safety procedures
- Ability to build working relationships with customers
- The ability to deal with stakeholders and customers of varying levels
- Experience in planning programmes of work
- Strong IT knowledge and Experience
- Ability to constantly reprioritise and manage your own workload, along with supporting the wider team
- Exceptional communication skills both verbally and in electronic format
The role is based our **Snodland** office in **Kent** and is commutable from Maidstone, Chatham, Rochester, Gillingham, Hempstead, Sevenoaks, Orpington, Swanley, Dartford, Bromley, Tonbridge, Gravesend, Rainham, Swanley, Sittingbourne and the surrounding areas.
