**Summary**:
Immigration Enforcement (IE) is part of the newly formed Borders and Enforcement established on 01 April 2021 under the One Home Office transformation programme.
IE is the operational arm of the Home Office responsible for reducing the size of the illegal population and the harm it causes. Its key missions are:
- Preventing illegal immigration through greater compliance with immigration laws.
- Maximising returns of immigration offenders and Foreign National Offenders from the UK.
- Tackling the threats associated with immigration offending.
IE works with law enforcement and cross-government partners to tackle serious and organised immigration crime with a focus on bringing to justice those who exploit the vulnerable, for example cases of modern slavery and human trafficking.
Immigration Enforcement prides itself on being an open and supportive workplace. We actively embrace diversity and promote equality of opportunity, to enable us to reflect the communities that we serve. We provide people with the opportunity to work at pace and deliver in stretching roles.
**Job description**:
Immigration Enforcement, Foreign National Offenders Removal Command (FNORC) has responsibility for the removal of Foreign National Offenders (FNOs) and works with a range of stakeholders, including the Ministry of Justice, the National Offender Management Service, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Police to expedite the removal of FNOs.
FNORC’s objective is to protect the public by deporting or removing FNOs who commit criminal offences, where legislation permits, and to actively monitor and manage FNOs released into the community pending deportation. We do this by rigorously pursuing deportation against foreign offenders who have committed criminal offences, handling each case through the legal process (for example appeals, Judicial Reviews), negotiating barriers such as travel documents and ensuring that the use of immigration detention is appropriate. This is an exciting, multifaceted and fast paced environment with new challenges being faced on a daily basis.
The Command has a number of key objectives including maximising voluntary returns, capitalize on removal during the Early Removal Scheme (ERS) through strong case progression and setting removal directions.
The Expedited Removal Unit (ERU) within FNORC are responsible for the removal of FNOs who have indicated that they want to return or have failed to respond to the initial intention/decision to deport. ERU also deals with the voluntary return of FNOs under the Facilitated Return Scheme (FRS). The focus of the team is on optimising compliant removals to reduce harm to the public and manages a high volume of casework.
