An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Acute Illness Response team at Kettering District General Hospital.
Acute Illness Response (AIR) team is an integral part of the Critical Care, providing a comprehensive service across the hospital site. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly skilled nurse or allied health professional to join our established team in providing high quality and professional services for the ‘at risk’ patient across all specialties.
You will be a clinically credible nurse or allied health professional with the expertise and specialist knowledge to deliver high quality evidence based care to the deteriorating ward based patient.
In addition you will also be responsible for the delivery, organisation and implementation of all Resuscitation Training at all levels to appropriate staff groups within the Trust.
We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, passionate individual who works well under pressure and is committed to provide clinical leadership, whilst having extensive experience in resuscitation training and accreditation in EPLS/ALS/ILS
The post holder will be educated to degree level, a proficient Practitioner within critical care outreach or resuscitation, with advanced assessment skills and prescribing (or be willing to undertake prescriber training)
As the AIR Team practitioners provide a 24-hour service, the successful applicant must be able to work both night and day shifts.
This role requires the post holder to maintain Trust accreditation with the Resuscitation Council UK in the training and development of all patient facing staff. You will be willing to work flexibly to cover the needs of the service delivering face to face basic, Immediate and Advanced life support training, that includes simulation scenarios, whilst facilitating a range of advisory and supportive roles such as debriefing, equipment management, policy and trust wide audits
You will be required to supervise the assessment and interventions for the acutely ill patient in hospital supporting ward managers in the recognition and response to acute illness in adults.
Through audit you will ensure that high standards of patient centered care are maintained whilst acknowledging the cost effective use of resources.
You will practice at an advanced level demonstrating a high level of autonomy and clinical decision-making. Assisting with level 2/3 transfers within the organisation when required. The post holder will attend 2222 calls in all areas across the trust.
You will need exceptional interpersonal, communication, decision making and organisational skills, along with stamina and flexibility in order to meet the demands of the role.
