**Key Objectives of the Role**
- To support the care and nursing teams to provide food and drinks for residents.
- To observe and promote our residents choice, independence, dignity, privacy and fulfilment.
- To create and maintain friendly relationships with residents, their families and friends and any other visitors to the home.
- To actively engage with and support other care workers.
- To adhere to all regulatory and statutory obligations and Lansglade Homes policies, procedures and guidelines.
- To assist in providing a happy and caring atmosphere and be involved in the general activities of the home.
**Main Roles and Responsibilities**
- To lay tables and trays. Ensure salt and pepper and any relevant sauces are available alongside cutlery, napkins and tablecloths. (Specialised cutlery may be needed)
- Clear away plates and cutlery after mealtimes, wipe down tables, any spillages on floors and leave the dining room in a clean and orderly manner.
- Assist staff to return trays from bedrooms to the kitchen when meals have been completed.
- Under the direction of the cook or care staff assist with serving meals to the residents in the dining room and individual bedrooms.
- Serve drinks to residents as required and assist with drinking at frequent intervals throughout the day with direction and guidance from senior staff.
- Under the direction of senior staff assist residents with food and drink and help those residents who do not have the ability to feed themselves.
- Report any issues of concern promptly to a senior member of staff where residents have a poor appetite, are unable to take fluids or experience any difficulties with swallowing.
- Ensure drinks are available for residents in their bedrooms and the lounges. Remove water jugs and glasses from lounges and bedrooms daily and replace after washing thoroughly.
- Always follow good practice with regards to hygiene in all areas of the home.
- Encourage residents to become involved in the home. Welcome and encourage their participation in activities so that they can participate and remain emotionally and intellectually stimulated.
- Make visitors feel welcome. Provide refreshments and assistance as and when required.
- Prepare vegetables and other foodstuffs as directed by the cook.
- Wash dishes and kitchen utensils. To fill, operate and empty the dishwasher as required.
- Ensure that the kitchen and food storage areas are left clean and tidy.
- Understand and ensure the implementation of the Home’s Health and Safety, Infection Control and Hygiene policies, and Emergency and Fire procedures.
- Report to the Home Manager, or the Maintenance Team any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
- Contribute to the safeguarding of adults by ensuring you are aware of your role in relation to the company’s Safeguarding Adults Policy, taking steps to protect residents from any form of abuse or neglect and use the appropriate reporting systems to inform the homes management of any concerns.
- From time to time you may be required to deputise for the domestic or laundry staff. Full training will be given if this is the case.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £11.44 per hour
