**Job introduction**:
Brighton and Hove City Council are excited to be building an Alternative Provision Specialist Taskforce. This multi-agency team of professionals will be working closely with vulnerable children and young people in Brighton and Hove who attend the Pupil Referral Unit.
We are excited to offer the opportunity to join this highly motivated, dynamic and compassionate team. We are looking to recruit a motivated, passionate employability advisor who is committed to supporting the young people at the PRU and their families, to engage and plan for their post 16 journey.

**About the role**:
Are you a passionate careers adviser keen to support young people to achieve their career goals?
We are seeking a skilled Employability Adviser to track, engage and support young people 14-17, who are educated at the Central Hub Brighton.
The council has a statutory responsibility to increase participation and reduce the proportion of young people in the city who are NEET, the service also tracks and monitors young people transitioning from year 11 into year 12.
**About the role**
As one of our small team you will provide a friendly and professional service actively engaging young people in decision making about their future choices. Managing a caseload of 30-40 active clients and a tracking caseload, you will need to be an excellent communicator who is always professionally curious, with an excellent understanding of safeguarding. Many of the young people we work with have faced additional barriers and may have not attended mainstream education for some time, so being able to build a trusting relationship is key. A great deal of our work focuses on strengths based activities, including:
- career and course decisions
- job and apprenticeship searches
- interview preparation
- working together to achieve AQA qualifications
- access to personal development programmes
**Additional information**:
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
