**Financial Services Manager, NHS Trust**
**£295 per day
5 Month Contract**

**Job Summary**
This is a senior role within the Finance Directorate and the post holder will form part of the management team of the Directorate. The post holder's main duties will be to manage the Financial Service department to ensure that that all financial accountingfunctions are completed in a timely and effective manner and that the Trust operates within a strong financial control framework.
The Financial Services Manager will be responsible for leading and developing the department to ensure the team is able to provide a professional and efficient service to internal and external stakeholders whilst maintaining proper financial records. That theTrust operates within a strong financial control framework through the development and implementation of financial procedures thus ensuring the achievement of current and future financial targets and to provide financial advice to all interested parties bothinternal and external.
**Responsibilities**
- To contribute to the management of the Finance Directorate as a member of the management team.
- To provide high level financial advice and support to the Trust and in particular in issues relating to the Trust's estate and its capital accounting.
- To lead on the production of the annual accounts and its submission within the deadlines set by Monitor.
- To draft and agree the Year End Timetable within the Finance directorate and other departments concerned, including SERCO.
- To ensure all working papers are accurate and of the required external audit standard.
- To fully manage the Agreement of Balance process of the Trust and ensure all disputes are resolved in a timely manner with external organisations.
- To manage the Financial Service department, ensuring the personal and professional development of the sections including regular staff supervision sessions and annual appraisals.

**Experience**
- Extensive experience working within a finance environment.
- Significant experience working in a financial service within an NHS organisation
- Extensive experience of cash flow forecasting, monthly management account and year end accounts.
- Significant experience of staff management, appraisals and staff development
- Experience of managing financial services teams
- Experience of leading the closure of a complex set of final accounts.
- Experience of liaising with internal and external auditors

**Qualifications/Knowledge**
- Degree or equivalent
- CCAB qualified
- Requirement to maintain CPD with CCAB body
- Expert knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and various monitoring returns
- Specialist knowledge in capital accounting, Internal Financial Reporting Standards, VAT, Tax and Pension systems
- Expert knowledge and understanding of NHS Finance Systems and policies e.g. Annual Reporting Manual

**Skills**
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Ability to recruit select team members
- Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
- Ability to deputise for the ADF both inside and outside the organisation
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral to non-financial managers
- Ability to work flexibly and adjust to changing requirements
- Makes professional decisions independently to support the Trust's reporting requirements.
- Continually update on changes to government legislation as it applies to NHS bodies.
- Hold advanced European Computer Driving License (ECDL)
- Expert skills in Microsoft Excel and Financial Modelling
- Understand and interpret all existing / new accounting standards and their effect on the organisation
