Freight Forwarding Manager

We have recently acquired a freight entity currently working within the Import/Export space globally. We are about to significantly expand the business by adding it to our subsidiary export project business. This will involve a large amount of mainly seafreight activity for goods and materials shipped from the UK and globally to customers in Africa, the Middle East and Worldwide.

We have an exciting opportunity as a Freight Forwarding Manager to join our team. We are based in Crawley, West Sussex, which is an easy commute from London or the south coast.

**Please note that this role will be full time working from our office in Crawley and you must be able to provide proof of right to work in the UK.**

**What will I be responsible for?**

Your core task as the Freight Forwarding Manager is to develop and oversee all aspects of our import and export freight forwarding function, focusing on profit through revenue growth, productivity improvements and cost controls.

Your role will assist in providing an enhanced end-to-end supply chain visibility. Within that process you will create and maintain a well-functioning team by leveraging individual capabilities, our freight forwarding network, and other value adding activities.

You will be required to:

- Manage all day-to-day operations and implement more effective working practices and procedures.
- Prepare annual budgets in collaboration with finance and commercial teams and ensure delivery through P&L and customer management.
- Review and evaluate account profitability, performance and KPIs and establish plans to address shortfalls.
- Be involved in the implementation of new business to ensure the correct processes are in place before the movement of goods.
- Provide input for the monthly report timely and as per instructions.

At the same time, you will foster a mindset focused on simplifying, optimising and digitalisingprocesses and tasks via solutions that have a demonstrable, long-term and scalable benefit for the business and our customers.

**Requirements**:

- Excellent knowledge in the critical freight markets, mainly Africa and the Middle East
- Management experience of small teams
- Operational management
- Hands on with all Export duties including, completing MAWB's, HAWB's, B&L and customs entries
- Support with the ongoing development of export department team's processes and operations procedures
- Fully support the department with an excellent standard of operational best practices
- Assist sales and management with customer development
- Operate within companies QA system
- Focus on customer service
- Any other tasks as directed by Senior Management
- Cost control
- Minimum of 3 years operational experience, preferably dealing with shipping lines to Africa
- Customs knowledge
- A high level of customer service knowledge
- Thorough understanding of customer needs
- Knowledge of the international transportation and logistics industry in export Air/Sea/Road operations
- A knowledge and understanding of financials and impact on business
- A good knowledge of IT systems and processes used in the transport sector
- Fluent in English and any other languages an advantage.
