Your New role

We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to join our team in Bedford. Within this role, you will be managing small scale projects and assisting Project Managers on more complex schemes. You will be supporting with the delivery ofa portfolio of concrete roads maintenance and improvement projects, although you may be required to support a wider programme of road schemes within the East. This role plays a pivotal part in supporting the local economy making sure transport links run safelyand smoothly.

What you’ll be leading on
- Support the delivery of complex projects, whilst managing standard allocated projects within the Region’s rolling 5 year capital programme, across all stages of the project delivery lifecycle; from scheme design through to handback into maintenance.
- A key aspect of this role will be assisting, managing and delivering high quality customer engagement/communication throughout the delivery of projects.
- Develop, support and maintain strong collaborative relationships with the Project Managers, key stakeholders, suppliers, contractors and across National Highways teams, to ensure full mutual understanding for the allocated projects. Report on and reviewdelivery performance, to develop solutions that resolve issues and to prepare project business cases
- Assist Project Managers to manage and motivate multiple supply chain partners and contractors to deliver allocated projects to programme, cost and quality, whilst driving efficiencies
- Comply with National Highways Operations Quality Management System (QMS) on all projects in scope to enable delivery within agreed parameters for quality, cost and time ensuring they meet intended outcomes, customer service levels, corporate technical,specialist health and safety
- Assist in programme management, reporting and risk management against the capital expenditure budgets for all projects in scope, ensuring effective financial and contractual practices are in place and adhered to by all project resources

To be Successful
- Understanding contract management under the NEC3/4 forms of contract
- Understanding of project management practices and controls
- Reviewing project plans and detailed stage plans in conjunction with delivery partners
- Excellent stakeholder management and communications skills
- Up to date understanding of CDM Health & Safety Regulations
