**Summary**:
- The Clerk of the Parliaments’ Office is made up of a number of different teams, including:
- private office support for the Clerk of the Parliaments, Chief Operating Officer, Clerk Assistant, Reading Clerk, Senior Deputy Speaker and Convenor of Crossbench Peers;
- the Clerk of the Parliaments ‘outer office’ which supports the daily sittings of the Chamber, including producing the procedural briefs for each day’s sitting, and which also provides the administrative support for the whole Clerk of the Parliaments’ Office;
- secretariat support for corporate boards and groups, including the Commission, Finance Committee, Services Committee, Audit Committee, Management Board, Business Planning Group, Steering Group for Change, Additional Support Group, Senior Leadership Forum, R&R Steering Group and R&R Parliamentary Alignment Group;
- corporate governance teams which support strategic and business planning, including effective risk and organisational performance management;
- Internal Audit;
- Information Compliance;
- Business Improvement and Change (BIC) Team;
- Lords Restoration and Renewal Team;
- Inter-Parliamentary Relations Team.**Job description**:
**Responsibilities**:
- Personal effectiveness- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, and the ability to manage conflicting priorities.
- A high level of initiative, including the ability to respond swiftly and constructively to unforeseen events, showing problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Adaptability and capacity to master new concepts quickly.
Communication skills- Strong oral communication skills, with the ability to concisely relay information and provide appropriate advice.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce documents requiring little or no correction and carry out independent research tasks, defining and summarising an issue and proposing or offering
advice on appropriate solutions.- Ability to be able to synthesise detailed or disparate information into a clear narrative.
- The ability to be able to effectively and accurately represent the views of others.
Interpersonal skills- The ability to develop effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders, including Members of the House.
- The ability to be able to work collaboratively with a range of colleagues, and to work within a matrix management environment.
Parliamentary knowledge- Good working knowledge of the work, procedures and governance of the House and an understanding of the House of Lords Administration, including its key offices and departments.
Professionalism, Tact and Discretion- Excellent judgement and ability to use tact and discretion at all times.
- Maintaining impartiality whilst working in a political environment.
Administrative skills- Proven administrative skills, with strong attention to detail.
