A new opportunity has arisen in the lead delivery and management of the diagnostic respiratory and sleep physiology services at the brand new Clacton diagnostic hub and at Colchester hospital.

You should be able to provide highly specialist clinical physiological knowledge and interpretation of a range of diagnostic and analytic studies predominantly within the sleep and ventilation service.

You will lead in the running and development of the Sleep diagnostic services, and Home CPAP/Ventilation services for ESNEFT. This will involve reporting on all inpatient and outpatient sleep studies maintaining a good level of technical work.

There will also be a requirement for you to deliver CPAP clinics and NIV clinics. There may be a requirement to assist in the Lung Function Laboratory when required.

As lead for the sleep service you will have a duty to deliver and develop the service as set out in the Trust’s plan, as well as having managerial responsibilities for both the service and the team.

You will be joining a busy, multidisciplinary team including, CPAP Practitioners, Physiologists, Sleep Technician, Consultants, Respiratory Nurse Specialists and Administrative support.
- undertake the full range of routine, advanced and highly specialist respiratory physiological investigations;
- provide verbal and written interpretation to referring medical teams on simple, specialist, complex assessments;
- provide expert opinion and seek co-operation from medical colleagues regarding appropriateness of referrals and make the final and on occasions contentious, decision where changes to the referral form are required or if testing is contraindicated;
- teach highly specialist test theories and techniques to post graduate level student physiologists and medical students;
- perform and report all lung function tests;
