Are you looking for a new challenge and want to join a successful and growing organisation? Do you have a passion for exploring new ways to change people's lives at a national scale through government policy? If so, we want to hear from you.
- **International Programmes team** - This is a permanent role, starting as soon as possible.
**What does a Project Coordinator do?**
The Project Coordinator is an essential member in our policy teams, bringing their operational expertise to help ensure the smooth running of the team and the projects within it. The roles are available in the following teams:
- **Home Affairs, Social Capital and Education team**. This team works across a range of different policy areas, including education policy, crime and justice.
- **International Programmes team**. This team leads BIT’s portfolio in Low and Middle Income countries in Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa, and collaborates with our teams in Latin America and East and South Asia.
The responsibilities of a Project Coordinator are to:
- Ensure projects are properly staffed, and to intervene if staff members have too much or too little work assigned
- Work closely with project managers to help accurately manage people and projects in our project management system and track project budgets
- Track the progress of projects throughout their life cycle - putting projects into the pipeline, initiating project set up and contracting, responding to changes in staff availability or project scope, and capturing feedback & lessons learnt from projects when they finish.
- Carry out analysis of resourcing data and business information to create actionable information for your team’s Director and other senior members of the team
The international project coordinator will further:
- Support business development - Ensuring the team are supported in developing bids and proposals for new work; represent BIT at BD events such as Early Market Engagement meetings or pre-proposal conferences; assist in the identification and coordination of potential partners for consortiums.
- Work closely with project coordinators in our international offices to ensure co-delivered projects are properly staffed and running smoothly.
Other questions your work may answer include:
- Do we have the right mix of skills and experience in our team to carry out our projects? If not, can we find people to help deliver this project in the wider company?
- How can we make our internal processes smarter and more efficient so that we can deliver high quality work to our clients?
- Does your team have the right amount of new business coming in over the next 6 months? If not, when should we aim to step up our business development activities?
**What makes a great Project Coordinator at BIT?**
- **Detail oriented. **You’re organised and passionate about getting the details right.
- **Curious about finding and solving problems. **You care about every part of the business being run as well as it can be. You can identify problems and take responsibility for them. You think creatively to suggest alternative solutions and work to implement improvements.
- **Managing and developing yourself at work**. You have high self-awareness and regularly self-reflect on how you can improve. You manage your own workload and prioritise competing requests.
- **Supporting others**. You care about the success, development and wellbeing of others in your team.
- **Managing relationships at all levels. **You can build relationships and trust with colleagues from Associate Advisor to Managing Director. You enjoy working closely with people senior to you and feel comfortable chasing them when they need to do something.
- **Passionate about public service. **You care deeply about our work improving people’s lives and communities.
**Who are we and what can we offer you?**
We design and rigorously test new ideas across a range of areas such as health, crime and education, to establish what works and what doesn’t. We have helped Tuberculosis patients take their medicine; reduced police susceptibility to cyberattacks; and helped organisations close their gender pay gap.
BIT really is a great place to work:
- We have a hive mindset where we think out loud, share ideas and learn from one another. You will work alongside a friendly, talented, and driven team with diverse expertise - from economics to anthropology and neuroscience - and a wide variety of personal and professional backgrounds. What unites us is the goal to have a positive social impact through our work.
- We encourage flexible working and have a culture which enables this; for example flexible start and finish times and an IT set up which allows for easy working from home options.
