Here at Cordant People we are currently recruiting a Transport Manager to join a client of ours based in Aylesbury.
This is a full time permanent position paying around £40,000 a year but there can be movement for the person with the right skill set.
The main part of the job will be to manage a fleet of drivers ensuring that they work within company guidelines and in an efficient and professional manner.
To provide the crane depot network with a first-class service.
To ensure that the operation achieves the targeted daily and weekly KPIs whilst remaining commercially minded.
Main Job roles:

- Brief drivers at the start of every shift to communicate planned requirements and provide information on performance, company news and procedures.
Debrief drivers on return from stores and suppliers to ascertain if any difficulties were encountered.
- Encourage two-way feedback and ideas aimed at improving work practices and involve drivers in seeking solutions to operational problems and communicate these to the Transport Director.
- Identify and report all operational problems to the Transport Director on a regular basis, making recommendations for improvement
- Monitor performance, timekeeping, overtime and sickness levels of individual drivers and report to the Manager on a regular basis take appropriate action.
- Identify and advise, in an appropriate manner, the drivers of errors and maintain historical data. Take action as necessary through training, briefing and disciplinary action.
- Ensure any disciplinary action is carried out following company procedure and documented accordingly. In addition, maintain confidentiality following dealings and reporting drivers to the Manager, acting within levels of authority at all times.
- Lead by example and try to resolve driver’s issues on a day-to-day basis to avoid formal grievances.
- Assist in the recruitment and training of drivers
- To undertake such duties as may be reasonably required for the effective operation of the function and the dept.
- The jobholder is a key member of the management team ensuring an efficient service level is maintained in line with the customer’s expectations.
- The jobholder needs to ensure the team is highly motivated and working in accordance to legal and company procedures.
- Counseling of team members, investigating situations and disciplinary action up to verbal warning stage.
Required experience:

- Must have at least 5 years Transport Management experience
- Experience dealing with heavy good vehicles
- Cat 1, 2, 3
- Heavy and wide loads (dealing with up to 100ton)
