At Picture the Difference, we are seeking to appoint a part-time Kitchen Supervisor to oversee the preparation of healthy, cooked lunches for staff, students and adults that attend PtD during term time on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at The William Knibb Centre in Kettering.

The role requires someone who enjoys using fresh ingredients, cooking from scratch and who can confidently and efficiently prepare a cooked lunch for up to 30 people. They will recognise the importance that gut health and a balanced diet is for our physical and mental well-being and will want to encourage healthy eating habits in others.

As part of the role, you will supervise and give guidance to two kitchen assistants, both with mild additional needs, who are very able at following written instructions to complete preparation and cooking tasks. We currently provide full menu plans and support materials for the kitchen team, however, the right person will begin to take greater ownership of the planning and new, creative ideas to develop our food project are always welcomed.

You will need excellent organisation and communication skills, a calm and friendly disposition, and a willingness to engage with others and contribute to the positive ethos and exciting team approach at PtD.

Good cooking skills and experience as well as kitchen hygiene competence is a requirement for this role. Experience working with SEN children and adults is desirable. An induction, resources and on-going support will be provided, however, due to our busy project schedule, we require the right person to be confident to take the lead quickly.

**Hourly **Rate: £12.50

**Hours/week**: 9.30am-2.30/3pm,15-18 hours per week, term time only.

**Contract Type**:Fixed term, zero hours

**Summary of Responsibilities**:

- Supervise kitchen assistant and organise and priorities activities
- Ensure efficient and smooth kitchen operations
- Oversee lunchtime food preparation, cooking, and presentation
- Maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Model and mentor kitchen assistant on proper food handling and preparation techniques
- Collaborate with management to develop new menu items and improve existing recipes

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract

**Salary**: From £12.50 per hour
