**Public Health Research Facilitation Lead** - Fixed term/secondment opportunity for up to 18 months due to funding.

**Salary: Band**: 11, £45,718 - £49,764 (£36,574 - £39,811 for 29.6 hours).

29.6 hours per week - 0.8 FTE - days/hours to be discussed at interview.

**What is the role**

You will be responsible for the continued development of PCC's exciting research agenda as a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC). You will be part of the HDRC Programme team, helping to put in place the building blocks for effective delivery of research in Portsmouth that addresses health inequalities and embeds community-led research at the heart of the city's approach.

Within this role you will manager existing research development projects bringing together practitioners, academics and supporting community participation and engagement in research to deliver impactful learning about what works to tackle health inequalities. You will lead the facilitation of self
- managing networks creating and supporting cross-sector collaborations that have potential to lead to research opportunities and/or action. You will also support development and delivery of the councils approach to research workforce development and take a lead in the ADRC national subgroup meetings.

Working alongside the current Research Development Lead and the rest of the team, you will support the activity planned during the next 4 years of the HRDRC programme and will be working on a flexible matrix basis. You will lead on research facilitation but you will be expected to work across other topic areas as needed.

**Who is the person**

With previous relevant experience in a research infrastructure/delivery organisation, you will have a public health related post graduate qualification (or working towards such) or equivalent experience. You should be a UKPHR Registered Public Health Practitioner or actively working towards registration. You will have experience of quantitative and qualitative approaches to research and evaluation, good critical appraisal skills and a demonstrable interest in research, skills development and theoretical approaches to applied research. Experience of publishing peer reviewed journal articles or other outputs from research such as posters and presentations at conferences. With the ability to communication across a wide range of organisational and cultural boundaries, you will be able to facilitate constructive discussions and debate to formulate programmes of action. You will have the ability to analyse and review highly complex facts and situations to formulate appropriate decisions, as well as manage complex projects of work.
