**1. ** **MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB**
- To supervise and participate in the delivery of care to those who reside within the Foundation
- To lead on the delivery of residents person centred Care Planning
- To effectively manager daily and professional recording processes
- To provide effective leadership for care staff through supervision, support and mentoring in all aspects of care
- To be responsible for administration of medication
- Work effectively with others within the home to ensure that residents needs are fully men
**2. POSITION IN ORGANISATION**
- Responsible to Register Care Manager and Deputy Care Manager for response to matters relating to Care facilities
- Maintains a close working relationship with the Staff team
**3. SCOPE OF THE JOB**
- To actively participate and supervise in the delivery of care for residents to ensure that their physical, social, spiritual, intellectual and emotional needs are met and ensuring dignity, choice, independence and respect
- To be responsible with the team for the preparation, implementation, review and update of all residents care plans in line with their personal wishes and preferences involving resident, representatives, key workers and management as appropriate in line with the Foundation policies
- To ensure residents choice and independence is respected through appropriate risk management involving all parties and ensuring accurate up to date record keeping.
- To administer prescribed medication to residents and assist in the management of an effective system for the safe control and administration of medication in accordance with the Foundations policy and procedures.
- To effectively lead, motivate and support care staff by setting clear attainable standards.
- To provide 1 -1 monthly supervision sessions to designated colleagues.
- To attend Senior Meetings as required.
- Upon appointment to assist in the appropriate induction and support of new care staff to the home.
- Enable staff to complete relevant documentation as directed.
- Monitor care staff performance, report any issue to the Manager/Deputy.
**4. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Possess a NVQ level 3 Qualification
- Two years relevant and appropriate experience and knowledge of working with older people in a resident care setting
- Ability to work in a leadership role, to accept responsibility and to direct other
- Knowledge dealing with medication such as ordering, administering
5**. DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- To undertake specific responsibility within an area of work as delegated by the Registered or Deputy Manager.
- To Manager the home during the night time
- To be an effective and contributing member of the senior management team.
- To undertake the full range of caring duties in accordance with the duties of a night care assistant and in accordance with the National Care Standards and Regulation.
- To assist with preparation of simple refreshments for those who have not retired out all night.
- Understand, observe and comply with all relevant legislation and Foundation Policy.
- Ensure that all records are kept up to date.
- To follow appropriate procedure in the event of any accidents or emergencies.
- To be approachable and supportive to staff and managers
- To attend staff meetings when appropriate and to be available for one to one session as agreed with the Registered Manager.
- To uphold and promote equal opportunities in employment practice and service daily.
- Provide a full handover to the incoming shift based on the written recording made. At this time night colleagues will respond to any calls for assistance to allow an uninterrupted process.
- Should the fire alarm to be activated or you yourself discover a fire, you must at one use the telephone to summon the Fire Service and immediately afterwards alert the appropriate manager designated for contact.
