Are you committed to supporting Children and Young People who are neurodiverse or have disabilities, believing in their potential?
We are looking for a Disabled Children's Advisor You will be committed to relationship-based practice, working in partnership and being solution focused. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills; together with the ability to working with professionals who support children with disabilities and their families. You will be keen to add your own distinct skills, knowledge and experience to our team and be committed to ongoing professional development.
You will need to have experience of direct work with children; preferably with sensory disabilities, learning disabilities, behaviours that challenge and an understanding of autistic spectrum condition.
The Disabled Children's Consultation and Advice Team (DCCAT) Advisors provide consultations and training to professionals working with children with disabilities or neurodiverse needs across Children's Services and the partnership. You will work with the DCCAT Manager to screen referrals and ensure consultations requests are dealt with promptly and effectively. You will offer advice around behaviour, communication, providing helpful practical tools and identify other sources of support available through the SEND local offer available to Children and Young People. You will not generally be working with the children and families, but instead you will be positively influencing and informing as part of a multi-agency team that will achieve positive outcomes.
