Role: Finance Manager

Location: Gravesend, Kent

**Salary**: Upto £50k

**Main purpose of the job**:
To manage the day-to-day finance function within the organisation.

To ensure all finance policies and procedures are in place and adhered to within the organisation.

To prepare annual budgets, monthly management accounts and monthly forecasting projections for the organisation.

To provide additional financial information as required, and an efficient finance function for the organisation.

Attend Board meetings to present financial reports and KPIs.

To manage all transactional areas within the finance function.

To ensure staff supporting the finance function are appropriately trained for their roles.

Ensure segregation of duties exists in all areas of finance.

Continually review and improve internal financial controls.

Completion of all statutory financial returns.

To assist the Corporate Services Director in managing the organisations loan portfolio and the organisations IT systems.

**Key tasks**:
Be responsible for the day-to-day finance function.

Ensure that proper effective accounting records, financial control systems and compliance systems are established and maintained and that all financial matters are dealt with in a proper and secure manner.

Manage and co-ordinate the month end and year end processes.

Prepare month end management accounts packs for review by the Corporate Director.

Attend Board and sub-committee meetings as requested.Present financial reports and KPIs and play an active role in subsequent discussions.

Submit quarterly management accounts to the organisation's funders.

Work with internal budget holders to prepare the annual budgets for review by the Corporate Services Director.

Work with budget holders to complete monthly forecasting projections through the financial year.

To prepare year end files for the annual audit, including electronic records for submission to the auditors of the organisation.Liaise with and handle information requests from the auditors.

Work with the Corporate Services Director to prepare the annual statutory accounts.

Monitor the associations cash flow position ensuring that funding is available when required and that surplus cash is invested in accordance with approved investment procedures.

Manage all accounting operations including revenue recognition, sales and purchase ledgers, credit control and organisational expenses.

Co-ordinate and manage the rent review process for tenants and third parties.Manage all associated processes and ensure up to date records are kept and reviewed to ensure accuracy.Manage correspondence regarding rent levels with third parties includinglocal authorities, government bodies and ensure all direct debits are reviewed in line with the rent amendments.

To manage all other elements of the associations rent accounting system, including rent posting, dealing with rent registrations, rent queries and adjustments, housing benefit queries etc, ensuring all related records are reviewed and accurately maintained.

Ensure the association meets all its statutory financial obligations e.g.VAT, Corporate Tax, returns to Companies House, Office for National Statistics returns etc.

Assist the Corporate Services Director with the management of the association's loan portfolio, with particular responsibility to arrange property revaluations as required with each lender and the monitoring of loan covenants through the financial year.

To assist the Corporate Services Director in the maintenance of the associations computer systems.

Continually develop business and accounting processes to maintain and improve internal controls.

Ensure relevant authorisation processes are in place and adhered to in all areas of the finance function.

Carry out systematic review of financial entries to ensure accuracy of postings.

Ensure all statutory and internal reporting deadlines are met.

Ensure relevant staff are appropriately trained to fulfil their finance roles.

Indirectly manage staff processing financial transactions to ensure they meet all required reporting deadlines.

Ensure finance policies are updated in line with internal requirements, all finance processes are appropriately documented, and all staff are adhering to financial policies and procedures.

Ensure adequate insurance cover is put in place so that risks are minimised and regularly review requirements to ensure the association is properly protected and achieving value for money.

To provide relevant cover for both the Corporate Services Director and other finance staff as required.

Generally, ensure that finance postings are in line with the latest versions of all relevant accounting standards.
