**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Support Worker**
I am a man in my 30’s living alone in Hawick, and am looking for the right person to
support me and my friendly dog as I have MS. I am looking for a friendly, considerate
and supportive person to join my existing team due to an increase in my requirements.
I require assistance with some personal care, leg stretches and light household duties
in the morning, and meal preparation at lunch and dinner time. I also require support
to access the community for shopping and exercise. I do not currently require any
support on a Sunday, however this may change in the future.
**Tasks**:
- I need assistance with stretching my legs in the morning before I get up to
improve my functional ability for the day;
- My appearance is very important, therefore some support with personal care;
- I sometimes require the assistance of one person and equipment for some of my
transfers;
- Assistance with general household duties to enable me to maintain my home;
- Some assistance with food preparation at mealtimes as required;
- Supporting me to care for my dog, according to my fluctuating abilities;
- Supporting me to attend the leisure centre one or two times weekly to use the
gym (blocks of hours);
- Any other tasks which aid me to live independently.
**Skills/Experience**:
- Cheerful and self-motivated with a good sense of humour.
- Honest, reliable and a degree of flexibility.
- Understanding of the need for confidentiality.
- Caring and sensitive to the problems having a disability can bring.
- Must like dogs.
**Hours of Work**:
- Starting any time between 07.30a.m and 8.30a.m for 1 to 1.5 hours each day;
- Lunch visit between 12.30p.m and 1.30p.m for 30 minutes;
- Dinner visit between 5.30p.m and 6.30p.m for 30 minutes;
- A degree of flexibility can be considered for the right person, and start times can
be discussed and agreed upon;
- Additional hours for social activities and to cover for other team member by
discussion.
**Rate of Pay**:
- £12.50 per hour;
- 5.6 weeks holiday per annum, calculated on a pro rata basis.
