- Job description- An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Devon Asset Performance team. We perform an essential role in ensuring that our flood risk assets are maintained to the required standard and ensuring people and property are protected from flooding by taking the right investment decision at the right time; based upon robust data and excellent knowledge of our assets.
You will take an active role in managing our flood risk assets within a geographical area. Your enthusiasm and positive outlook will help you find solutions and ensure our assets are inspected, maintained and operated safely, effectively and efficiently. You will engage in the delivery of maintenance and flood defence projects, working collaboratively with our Field Teams in the delivery of our annual work programme.
This is a varied role working closely with others to plan and deliver our routine maintenance programme, manage defects, undertake data work, respond to enquiries and liaise with internal teams, contractors and local residents.
The role includes a good mix of office, home-based and site work, working in partnership and maintaining productive relationships with our field teams, external contractors, risk management authorities, and partner regulators/advisors.
You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment depending on the role and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
- The team- Our Asset Performance teams are responsible for the overall performance of flood and coastal erosion risk management assets. We ensure all assets are inspected, maintained and operated in a safe, efficient and effective manner to assure the safety of the public and reduce flood risk for people and property. Our team comprises a mix of civil engineers, incident leads, asset inspectors, geographical leads and technical support.
- Experience/skills required- We're seeking individuals with passion for asset and/or flood risk management and drive to better protect our communities at flood risk.
Ideally, you’ll be able to demonstrate some of the following:
- Asset management experience, including identifying risk and whole life asset management.
- Confident communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team to make decisions and achieve planned outcomes
- Good planning and organisational skills, ability to use MS Office
- Experience in project management and/or civil engineering
- Data and information management (eg, GIS)
- Experience of current Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015
You will be offered comprehensive induction/training and will be given time and space to learn while doing the role
