Senior Marine Cargo Claims Handler - Salary up to £68,150

Are you someone with a few years’ experience within Marine Claims Handling?

A bit about the job:
You will be able to utilise your excellent technical and organisational skills to handle marine cargo claims from notification to settlement, including close liaison and collaboration with brokers, co-insurers and experts. You will be expected to manage a caseload of lead and follow line claims from both our International and UK books of business and will be expected to attend client and market meetings as required to represent Aviva interests. The person in this role must have previous knowledge/background working within marine cargo claims.

Your main responsibilities include;- Maintain system with claims updates, ensuring the system is fully updating with information from all parties involved in the claim.- Be assertive and make decisions quickly.- Complaint management - logging and addressing complaints in line with regulatory guidelines.- Liaise with suppliers on recovery cases in order to make decisions and deliver financial benefit.- You will use lead measures to constantly drive forward claims in order to deliver optimal lifecycles and seek ways to improve the system.- Constantly seek new and better ways of working and embracing change in technology and method.- Constantly challenge external suppliers for decisions to move the claims forward and a strong commercial awareness of the impact on consequential loss.

Aviva uses “smart-working”, and the person in this role can be based anywhere as long as they can travel into London for meetings.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Strong technical knowledge. Able to understand and communicate complex policy conditions.- Problem-solving skills to identify the blockages within the system and initiate resolution.- Strong commercial acumen to challenge cost decisions and make decisions within your authority limits.- Well-developed customer service skills, ability to react quickly to decisions ensuring excellent customer engagement throughout.- Strong negotiation skills.
