**ROLE INFORMATION**:
Bexley is the leading London borough for recycling and in 2018 was re-awarded this position for the 13th successive year. As a strategic part of Bexley’s waste collection infrastructure, the Thames Road Waste Transfer Station accepts a wide range of materials from household kerbside collections, street cleansing and local trade and business.

The Service Delivery Supervisor will ensure that all daily collection tasks are carried out in line with the Council Contract, maximising productivity and minimising missed bins whilst delivering exceptional customer service. In order to achieve this objective you will supervise in a timely and efficient manner the work, equipment and colleagues.

Working pattern: 45 hours per week Friday to Tuesday

**SERVICE DELIVERY SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

Responsible for the recruitment, induction and leadership of allocated team.
- Supervise and co-ordinate in a timely manner all work to be carried out by the collection crews allocated to you.
- Ensure all collections are efficiently organised and the right level of staffing is allocated to meet the needs of the contract on a daily basis.
- Ensure thorough and efficient briefing and deployment of all collection crews in order to achieve targets set.
- Monitor the progress of all allocated collection rounds to ensure the completion of all work schedules including monitoring of Whitespace and other IT systems.
- Debrief collection crews upon return to the depot, investigating any failure to complete allocated tasks.
- Effectively plan in advance correctly placing resources based on information available.
- Ensure allocated crews are suitably trained and developed and can safely and professionally operate the vehicles and equipment.
- Monitor performance and attendance of workforce updating personal records as required.
- Conduct absence reviews, disciplinary and grievance meetings in line with Company procedures.
- Manage reactive maintenance to ensure breakdowns are effectively prioritised and promptly addressed so that unplanned downtime is minimised and root causes of failure are identified.
- Oversee planned preventative maintenance to ensure work is completed in line with schedule requirements and escalating issues where necessary.
- Responsible for monitoring the daily inspection and reporting procedure for vehicle defects carried out by drivers and ensure timely notification of defects to the relevant provider to ensure resources are allocated to all scheduled tasks.
- Ensure compliance with Drivers hours rules and correct completion of drivers hours books.

**TO BE SUCCESSFUL AS A SERVICE DELIVERY SUPERVISOR YOU WILL NEED**:

Previous experience of managing a manual workforce
- Managing staff in an environmental setting
- Managing client relations with a local authority client
- Good communication skills
- Strong organisation skills
- Previous experience of using IT systems including Whitespace and MS Office Packages
