**JOB TITLE: National Careers Service Adviser Grade: Pay Band 4**

**DEPT: Delivery HOURS: 37 hours**

**JOB PURPOSE**:
This job will play a key role in contributing to the new National Careers Service contract which provides tailored free, personalised information, advice, and guidance to help individuals to get into work or progress their career. The scheme will address customer barriers to gaining employment, improving skills, or progressing within their careers through tailored support and interventions.

You will need to be able to achieve targets by working with individuals to progress towards employment, learning or career progression and be a motivational adviser to build positive relationships, guide, inspire, challenge, encourage and help individuals create and sustain employment and learning opportunities.

**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Promote Adviza values and interests at local and regional forums
- Meet, and strive to exceed, personal performance targets (Key Performance Indicators) relating to number of customers supported into employment, learning or career progression.
- Manage a caseload of customers keeping them informed on job and learning opportunities related to their career aspirations in their local area
- Deliver further empowering career interventions, via telephone and digital methods, to compliment and develop existing careers skills action plans with SMART goals and actions to support customer progression and aspirations.
- Actively promote the National Careers Service and related projects/products, to increase public awareness of service and champion the importance of careers guidance for all
- Maintain a consistent and effective tracking cycle to deliver a positive experience to customers, ensuring they engage with you to keep their personal Careers and Skills action plan relevant and updated
- Comfortable working at a fast pace, in a changing environment, to meet customer needs and personal targets
- Resilience when dealing with challenging situations in a professional and confidential manner
- Contribute to the achievement of the internal and external quality and compliance standards, such as Ofsted and Matrix
- Provide tailored support in all aspects of career management and progression that stretches and challenges customers to reach their full potential
- Utilize and update bespoke toolkits to enable customers to self-serve and manage their own progression
- Fully understand the national, regional, and local labour markets and provide relevant advice and guidance on local job sectors and opportunities.
- Deliver Group Sessions with customers requiring additional support in a wide range of settings, including careers events, jobs fairs, pop up venues.
- Maintain accurate and up to date customer records to the required compliance and quality standards to ensure outcomes can be claimed
- Develop an understanding of specialist signposting services in the local area/region, building knowledge in areas such as priority sectors, SEND, NEETS, and over 50’s
- Proactively participate in continuous improvement activities to ensure that the service continues to deliver excellent customer service and ensure best practice is adhered to and championed
- Is prepared to work flexibly to meet the needs of the contract, such as evenings and weekends, and including any necessary travel and overnight stays
- Accountable for own professional development and undertake necessary training as identified in the Performance Review process.

- Actively participate in, and promote, Prevent and the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

**Essential**
- A good working knowledge of the local labour market in the specified geographical locations
- GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths at Grade C or above
- Fully IT literate in using a range of Microsoft Office programmes to include 365 products and modern digital technologies e.g Microsoft Teams and Zoom
