We are recruiting new apprentices to join our dynamic team in Northampton. You will start your apprenticeship as a trainee technician gaining a Level 4 qualification in VDA. You will be based at our accident repair centre in Northampton gaining practical skills and work experience, _**learning while you earn**_, mentoring by a senior qualified technician.

**To start an apprenticeship with us, you need to**:

- Be at least 16 years old
- Be willing to work Monday to Friday 8am - 4.30pm
- Be prepared to commit to your apprenticeship for 3 years
- Have Grade 4 or above in both Maths and English (double) or Functional Skills Level 2
- Completed a level 2 motor vehicle qualification or have a minimum of 2 years motor vehicle experience.

**You will**:

- work five days a week
- Be provided with a uniform, starter kit, health & wellbeing support and experienced mentor
- Complete on-line e-learning where applicable

**An apprenticeship Standard at Thatcham Research Academy will always include**:

- A Level 4 qualification (assessed on the job)
- A technical certificate issued by a registered training provider upon completion
- Employee rights and responsibilities

**Objectives**:

- Working under direct supervision at all times to achieve full competence and qualification.
- Accurately and skilfully assess all aspects of the motor vehicle body repair.
- Detect and diagnose any additional faults for further repair
- Ensure all work is completed safely and complies with manufacturer and British Standard industry guidelines
- Differentiate between items that need repairing and items that need replacement
- Assess the cost and duration of a repair
- Discuss damage and repairs with a range of stakeholders (vehicle owners, insurance companies, colleagues and managers), listening to their view, responding to concerns and negotiating using evidence based reasoning
- Assess the current market value of vehicle using industry proprietary guides
- Obtain authorisation from the Client/Customer to proceed with repair to a vehicle and confirm the cost of the repair (if appropriate for the workplace)

**Salary**: £10,004.80-£15,000.00 per year
