Information Specialist

Due to growth we are recruiting for an Information Specialist for a growing global leading technology platform.
Working from their prestigious offices in Newcastle City Centre. (Hybrid working available)
Based in the Information Services Team, the role plays a key part in the maintenance and development of the Construction Information Services (CIS), an online product range, which provides access to over 26,000 technical publications from almost 500 publishers.Updated daily, these products provide essential standards, technical, legal and contract information to customers based in the UK and overseas.
**Duties**:
- Document acquisition, processing, maintenance and withdrawal using specialist databases
- Cataloguing, abstracting and indexing of metadata for discovery of content
- Customer support in relation to CIS content enquiries, recording and reporting to identify changes in user needs
- Current awareness of industry and content developments to our internal and external users
- Participation in content reviews
- Weekly production and testing of CIS indexes
- Contribute to product development including content research, and product/user analysis
- Involvement in improvements to content workflows and processes for efficiency, quality and consistency
- Participation in product testing and quality control
- Administration, research, special projects as agreed with the Knowledge and Information Manager
**Skills required**:
- Information handling skills - cataloguing, classification, indexing and abstracting
- Precise, comprehensive and technically accurate written and verbal communication skills
- Desk research
- Effective time management
- Confident use of ICT hardware and software, especially Microsoft tools
**Knowledge**:
- Thorough understanding of copyright, intellectual property and licensing
- An understanding of how to select and manage documents which form part of a collection
- Strong understanding of excellent customer service
- Library, information and knowledge technologies
**Experience**:
- Document/publications handling experience including selecting, maintaining and archiving
- Experience of efficient processes
- User experience of some or all of standardisation, regulations, and contracts publications
- Experience of coping with competing demands
- Working on own initiative or as part of a team
- Commitment to continuing professional development, including goal setting and assessment of the impact of activity
- Construction industry information and knowledge desirable
Salary up to £27,500 depending on level of experience
Working hours are Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.
