**Summary**:
We are looking for an experienced HR Officer to join our team on a long-term temporary appointment to deliver the full remit of managing Employee Relations (ER) within our established HR team at the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO). You will be a key player in managing ER activity including advising and guiding managers on policy, managing casework, as well note taking at formal case meetings. You will also process employee lifecycle changes using the HR system (iTrent) to ensure payroll accuracy.

**Job description**:
Working alongside the Assistant HRBP for ER Casework and HR Officer, you will assist with complex employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievances, investigation and appeals. You will provide policy and procedure advice, guidance to employees and managers, as well as arranging occupational health assessments where required. As the HR Officer you will support in coaching and upskilling managers to manage employee relations cases and raise line manager capability.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide a quality end to end Employee Relations and HR Advice service across UKHO, as required, ensuring agreed timescales and policies and procedures are adhered to. This includes where appropriate ensuring policies are revised or updated as appropriate to meet changing requirements and needs of the business.
- Provide HR Policy and procedure advice to employee and managers (including senior managers) as appropriate, this includes providing guidance and assistance with interpreting the policies, how to manage ER cases, using Employee Assistance Programme and Occupational Health to ensure effective case management. This includes supporting investigations, meetings and note taking as well as managing the administrative elements of the cases.
- Ensure all employee life cycle changes are processed in HR System and in accordance with payroll processing periods. This includes all job, contractual and pay changes as well as ensuring absence, maternity, shared parental, and other data is accurate in HR System.
- Support the development of HR Management Information for HRBPs and work with them to analyse data and trends and build action plans to address what the data is telling us
- Support other HR activities in the team and business as and when required.

**Things you need to know**
- This role is open to full time, part time, job share. The UKHO will consider flexible working or workplace adjustments, where appropriate.
- The role will be contractually based at our Head Office in Taunton. We are working remotely at present but envisage a hybrid working model post pandemic whereby you will be able to balance your work location between working remotely and in the office. You must be able to travel to the office as and when required.
