- £44,500 - £49,000 dependent on experienceWe are seeking a new Head of Communications and Campaigns in a full time permanent role. If you are an experienced communications expert who is passionate about using your skills to increase the profile, reach and impact of WWT and to inspire people to join us to take action for wetland nature this might be the role for you.
**The Role**
We are expanding our communications and campaigns work at WWT to help deliver our strategic plan. We have ambitious targets for developing bigger and better wetlands, encouraging one million people to take action for these unique places, and ensuring key decision makers around the world realise the essential role wetlands play in restoring nature, combating climate change and enhancing health and wellbeing.
The Head of Communications and Campaigns will play a critical role in helping us to deliver our ambitions and our new brand strategy. You will lead the creation of imaginative and impactful campaigns that raise awareness of the vital role that wetlands play in addressing the biodiversity, climate and health and wellbeing crises, and inspire people to join with us to take action.
Leading a team of seven, you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the organisation to develop and deliver our communications and campaigns strategy, bringing together external and internal communications, our ambassador programme and events. Reporting to the Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications, you will be part of the directorate’s senior management team.
This role is a chance to make a direct contribution to the restoration of wetlands, at a critical moment for the natural world and the communities that rely on them. You will have a passion for, but not necessarily a background in, environmental issues and be inspired by the power of wetlands.
**About You**
**We are seeking an individual**:
With a track record of leading and developing high performing and motivated teams that create eye-catching campaigns that engage, inspire and drive change. You are experienced in overseeing a wide range of projects at any one time, providing ongoing coaching and advice to your team as well as representing the function within the wider organisation.
A strategic thinker, you will be experienced in designing and driving integrated communications campaigns aimed at diverse audiences that deliver measurable results. You are also experienced at spotting opportunities, and know how to mobilise individuals and develop a response that ensures WWT’s voice is heard.
You will have built coalitions and partnerships to raise awareness of an issue or to drive action. You will understand how digital tools can be used effectively to reach new audiences, inspire action and influence debate, and have experience of designing memorable events for supporters, policy makers and other stakeholders.
You will have run a press office and be used to building relationships with the media and advising senior colleagues on complex communications and reputational issues and managing their responses. Familiar with building relationships across a complex organisation, you will be experienced in bringing multi-disciplinary teams together to deliver a common goal.
