**The Role**

Our client's Power Systems team assists network companies, governments and regulators with specialist studies, data analysis, and the development of innovative systems and services.

They are looking for a Power Systems Energy Design Consultant with technical expertise of the GB Power system. This role is suited to an experienced power systems engineer providing technical services to their Distribution Network Operator (DNO) clients.

Duties and responsibilities include;
- Providing techno-economically feasible solutions to new demand/generation connections at EHV and HV levels
- Carry out network modelling in Power System Analysis software such as IPSA, PowerFactory etc. including Load Flow, Contingency and Fault Level Analysis
- Produce Investment Proposal papers for new connection requests
- Design the EHV and HV network reinforcement schemes for future growth in demand and support the client in producing engineering justification papers such as those utilised under RIIO schemes
- Creation of business cases for decarbonising energy investments from initial concept through to financial close
- Identification of electricity procurement options, design of private wire schemes and energy schemes and systems, including development of design drawings, technical specifications and invitation to tender packages
- Liaise with the wider N&I team to develop python/VBA scripts for analysis of bulk network data

Essential requirements;
- A degree in electrical engineering
- Post-graduate degree in Power Systems (or equivalent) with 2 to 3 years relevant industry experience, or at least 5 years relevant industry experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Well-rounded individual with the ability to deliver work individually, or as part of a team
- Ability to engage with clients, forming long term and mutually beneficial relationships
- Experience of network modelling and power systems analysis utilising one or more sector standard tools such as IPSA, PowerFactory or PSCAD (or other equivalents)

Desirable requirements;
- Experience in HV and/or EHV substation, and earthing design
- Commercial awareness and proactive in seeking out new business opportunities
- Knowledge of UK and international standards and codes
- Experienced in the use of Python, and ancillary Python services such as GitHub
- Project management or project engineering experience
- Act as Client Manager on behalf of the organisation, being responsible for the complete project life cycle management with the opportunity to work at client locations
- Co-ordinate and actively take up business development with the client, preparing proposals and delivering these projects
- Manage and coordinate a small team of Graduate and Technical consultants to assist in the service delivery to the client
