Clinical Digital Junior Fellows X 2 Posts
2 weeks ago
This is a new and exciting role offering a unique opportunity to support the design and development of a new digital clinical system (DCS) within our Trust, whilst maintaining and developing clinical skills and competencies within general medicine and medical subspecialties.
This post is a fixed term appointment for 12 months and will be employed on Locally Employed Doctor T&Cs as a Clinical Digital Junior Fellow.
The post holder will join a trust-wide team of Clinical Information Officers, led by the CCIO. The postholder will have regular weekly contact with key members of the digital team, including the Programme Director for DCS, to initially set tasks and monitor progress.
The post will give excellent exposure to General Internal Medicine with opportunities to work in the Acute Admissions Unit, Care of the Elderly, Respiratory Medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology or Diabetes & Endocrinology at a IMT1 level. Placement will depend on the appointee's aspirations and clinical need in the Division of Medicine and Emergency Care. There will be opportunities to rotate into two or three departments over the year if that is considered appropriate.
Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) provides good quality, safe and effective healthcare to the people of Cheshire and beyond. The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008.
We employ almost 5,000 members of staff, provide around 540 hospital beds, with a range of services including accident and emergency, maternity, outpatients, therapies, and children's health.
The Trust is also part of Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP), a unique local health partnership that provides a range of community services for people across South Cheshire and Vale Royal.
During the Coronavirus pandemic, the Trust was recognised nationally for its ‘Be Safe Be EquiPPEd’ campaign, which aimed to make the Trust as safe as possible for staff and patients, through supporting the correct use of PPE.
The results in the 2020 national NHS Staff Survey showed improvements in all elements of the safety culture theme, with 92% of respondents feeling their role made a difference to our patients. We were also recognised nationally for our workforce health and wellbeing initiatives.
At Mid Cheshire, we value our staff and appreciate that in order to give our patients the best quality, compassionate care, we also need to look after our colleagues.
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR DIGITAL COMPONENT OF ROLE
**Key responsibilities**:
2. Participate in project build and project governance groups, contributing to the decision-making activities of the project clinical advisory groups.
3. Promote the adoption of digital working across all staff groups at the trust
4. Undertake any necessary training relevant to the role.
RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE MEDICINE AND EMERGENCY CARE DIVISION
The nature of work will vary but will mostly comprise working on the ward alongside the medical team of trainee doctors under the clinical supervision of a consultant.
This will include attending Consultant and Registrar led ward rounds, conducting own ward rounds, ward work, supervision and training of junior trainees and medical students on the ward and working as a member of a wider multidisciplinary team.
There may also be opportunities to take on optional out-of-hours on call work in medicine (e.g. late shifts) on an ad hoc basis.
The hours of work for the posts are 40 hours per week. The timetable for this job will be a 50/50 split of digital work and clinical commitments. It is envisaged that this will be in the form of 1 whole week of digital time followed by 1 whole week of clinical commitments although some flexibility may be required depending upon service needs and training opportunities.
A timetable will be agreed between the CCIO, relevant Clinical Lead and the postholder. This will include appropriate time for personal development opportunities. Appropriate Full Trust induction will be provided as well as local induction for both clinical and digital elements of the role.
