As a result of retirement, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller/Partnership Accountant to join our team. The role, based primarily in our modern Berwick-upon-Tweed office, will be responsible for the day-to-day financial mattersof the group.

You will work closely with the Finance Partner to ensure the smooth running of our own accounts function, the implementation of partnership policy and provide regular key performance information to GWA’s 13 partners. The Partnership Accountant has one directreport and works closely with a small team, managing our own accounting records, Health and Safety, insurance and general partnership matters. Duties also include, authorisation of payroll payments, overseeing facility management over multi locations as wellas ad hoc projects where required.

**The Individual**
- an experienced office manager, finance professional or accountant
- must hold either ACA/CA/ACCA/CIMA qualification
- strong financial and management accounting experience
- a good communicator with strong organisational skills
- strong financial knowledge and IT skills are essential - specific accountancy and practice management software training will be provided
- commercially aware with experience of working in a fast-paced finance environment
- you must treat all data confidentially and exemplify the GWA values of Quality Advice:Quality Service
- excellent attention to detail
- must have driving licence and be prepared to travel between sites, as required

**Main duties and responsibilities**
- the financial control and reporting of the group activities
- managing, motivating, and developing a small Accounts team
- ensuring month end and year end reporting deadlines are met
- timely preparation of monthly Board reporting for the Board
- preparation of monthly financial statements and KPIs
- preparation of year-end accounts to trial balance including lead schedules and fixed asset registers
- maintaining cashflow forecasts
- maintaining and overseeing books and records on Sage, ensuring timely payment of all suppliers via BACs
- ad hoc projects and management reporting
- dealing with property management, coordination with property professionals and take HSE lead in office matters
- responsible for all PAYE reporting and submission to HMRC and overseeing wages processing
- responsible for VAT compliance of the group
- reporting to the partnership finance committee
- attending partnership and group company directors’ meetings and carrying out (company) secretarial duties
