Client Summary:
Leading manufacturer and front line supplier of powertrain products based in the UK and Ireland. Areas of expertise include Engine Overhaul, final Drive Overhaul and locomotive refurbishment.
The job:
This position is responsible for all forecasting activities associated with customers and products across the business. The Master Planner will work in conjunction with customer facing and internal functions to create and maintain forecast modelling processesto drive MRP demand planning.
Appropriate planning methodologies and techniques per contract / customer will incorporate business intelligence, forecast information, financial requirements and internal utilisation patterns. The role will act as the integration point between Production,Supply Chain and the Sales / Commercial functions to ensure that a structured planning and evaluation cycle is maintained.
They will maintain a robust monthly Sales, Operations & Inventory Planning (SIOP) cycle and control process. Creation of the Master Production Schedule They will operate as the deputy relative to all planning and forecasting processes across the business andwork in conjunction with the Inventory lead and internal stakeholders to define inventory holding strategies / rules, as well as drive a continual cycle of inventory management and optimisation.
Support Stakeholder requirements for new customer bids to evaluate load and capacity planning, inventory modelling and inventory holding requirements and financial impacts. Work to support sourcing strategies and the evaluation of Price versus Total Cost ofAcquisition. Model optimal delivery and supply methodologies to control supply and delivery mechanisms to optimise Working Capital.

**Responsibilities**:

Delivery
*Develop demand forecast models (operational forecasts) at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a structured demand planning process / function.
- Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.
*Introduce and adapt statistical forecasting modelling techniques and methodologies for each contract to optimise performance and Working Capital
*Coordinate cross-functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions and optimise Production planning and utilisation.
*Interact with sales, marketing, and customer finance to understand demand forecast drivers.
*Utilise a collaborative and consensus approach by working with Sales, Marketing and Customer Finance to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.
*Develop / use / maintain Demand Planning software as the primary forecasting system tool.
*Oversight and governance of the business Sales, Operations & Inventory Planning (SIOP) process and cycle.
*Creation of the Master Production Schedule
*Control and evaluate all change and financial impacts prior to executive release to MRP through formal process and cross functional sign off.
*Lead and coach internal functions in forecasting techniques and principles to enhance the companies planning capabilities.
*Provide input to the Project Management and Bids processes to developing inventory strategies on new products, and product phase-outs.
*Create short, medium and long-term planning scenarios to support budget and business planning requirements
Person Profile/Experience:
*Sales forecasting and Demand process knowledge is essential.
*Understanding of statistics and experience of working with large volumes of data.
- Previously worked in sales forecasting / demand planning environment.
*Detailed knowledge of SAP or Oracle MRP processing an advantage.
*Product & Customer knowledge is desirable.
- Advanced PC skills in the use of Microsoft Packages and databases.
- Comprehensive experience in forecasting and modelling software packages.
Ability to analyse and interpret complex data.
Excellent communication skills both written & verbal.
Analytically minded with a strong attention to detail.
Ability to work cross functionally.
