As an **Environmental Protection Officer** you’ll play a vital role in**carrying out investigations, assessments and enforcement of legislation within the shared service across Kingston and Sutton.**

**About the role**

Based in**Kingston,**you will be tasked with delivering key strategic objectives including:

- Delivering statutory and non-statutory environmental functions in relation to air quality
- Investigating complaints related to Air Quality, giving advice and taking enforcement action in accordance with our enforcement policy
- Taking the lead on Air quality initiatives, including developing, promoting and implementing initiatives designed to meet our challenging Air Quality Action Plans, completing annual status returns and fulfilling the requirements of our DEFRA Air Qualitydiffusion tube survey.
- Commenting on Planning Applications, leading on an air quality and (with support from the rest of the team) our wider pollution control and environmental health perspectives

**About you**
- Proven experience of air quality management working in a local authority context
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer literate
- Experience in dealing with members of the public, good interpersonal and customer care skills

**Experience is also preferable in**:

- Good organisation skills an ability to work under pressure and prioritise a varied workload
- Provide general pollution control advice and guidance to residents and businesses

**What’s on offer**
- **Salary: £40+ per hour, up to £300 per day
