**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Job Title: Marketing and Communications Officer

Job Purpose: To develop and deliver marketing and communications for the Association of

Colleges, producing high quality content, which promotes the work of AoC, including its lobbying and policy work, AoC Sport, recruitment and other services.

Department: Comms, Media, Marketing and Research

Business Unit: AoC

Reports To: Senior Marketing Manager

Role Level: Professional/Specialist

Contract Type: Permanent

Work Location: London-Hybrid with weekly attendance expected at the office based in London in line with team operating practice, and flexibility to work from home as agreed within policy guidelines. Ability to travel to other works locations depending on business needs.

Indirect Reports: None

Monetary and Risk Budget: No budgetary risk

Responsibility
Risk Management: Manageable risk to the reputation or AoC due to outward-facing nature of the role.

External Key Partners and sponsors, event speakers, AoC member colleges

Contacts
College marketing teams, campaign stakeholders and partners, further education sector journalists.

Internal Key Contacts: Wider comms, media, marketing and research team, Public Affairs and External Relations teams, Policy team, Senior Leadership Team, HR team and regional teams.

**Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities**

2. Promote the work of AoC, including events, services and opportunities, ensuring a high quality and professional output.

3. Support the Senior Marketing Manager in producing and delivering annual marketing and communications plans.

4. Work with the wider comms, media, marketing and research team to ensure the organisation’s marketing and comms are aligned across the organisation and support its lobbying and research efforts.

5. Use analytics and latest trends to drive improvements across AoC channels.

6. Work on AoC’s web presence, keeping it up to date with the latest policy and sector information, helping members with queries.

7. Support the Press & PR Manager with press releases and media enquiries.

8. Design key AoC assets such as reports, social media graphics and infographics.

Education/ Qualifications/ Professional Bodies Assessment

GCSE English GCSE grade C and above, or equivalent **A**

Knowledge, skills, ability and experience

Strong written communication skills - including communicating policy,

An understanding of how to use major social media channels - primarily
Twitter, LinkedIn and / or Facebook **A/I/T**

Good interpersonal skills with ability to build rapport when meeting new
people **A/I**

Experience of delivering marketing campaigns **A/T**

Ability to work independently and to tight deadlines **A/T**

Computer confident, good skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint, and the use of media monitoring services (or the ability to pick them up quickly) **A**

Demonstrates respect for equality and diversity and works to actively promote an inclusive work environment and good working relationships among colleagues **A/I**

Demonstrates an interest in further education **A/I**
