We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in **Cardiff **to assist with the appointment of a **Residential Child Care Officer,** on a **3-month contract,** likely to be extended at clients discretion.The requirement is for both day and night workers who will be placed on a rota to cover shifts across children’s homes in Cardiff.

**Essential Criteria**
- Registered with Social Care Wales as a Residential Childcare Officer
- Driving license
- Experience of working with young people aged 11 to 17 years
- Knowledge of the basic needs of young people
- Awareness or understanding of young people in our society
- Full working history and references to confirm there are no safeguarding issues or concerns.

**Responsibilities**
- To be familiar with and capable of administering the Home in accordance with Cardiff Council policies in accordance with all relevant legislation, procedures and Good Practice Guidelines.
- To comply with the Social Care Wales and Cardiff Council Codes of Conduct for Social Care Workers.
- To be familiar with and have an understanding of all legislation and guidance relating to safeguarding and child protection in line with the Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
- To ensure that the Homes policy and procedures are implemented and safe working practices adhered to at all times.
- To be part of the waking night residential rota which will include regular weekend working.
- To provide waking night support, taking responsibility for providing a safe, warm and supportive environment.
- To work closely with the team to implement and manage sensitively the routine nightly care arrangements for young people.

**Qualifications**
- Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) within three years of appointment

**Required Skills & Abilities**:

- Proven written and oral communication skills to undertake the task as outlined in the Job Description.
- Skills in individual work with young people
- Able to speak on behalf of a young person
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Organised and able to plan, prepare and prioritise work.

**Please note**:

- You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
- You should have right to work in U.K
- This role requires an **enhanced DBS**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months

**Salary**: £12.00-£38.00 per hour

Licence/Certification:

- NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care (preferred)
- registration with SCW as a Residential Childcare Officer (required)
- Driving Licence (preferred)

Work authorisation:

- United Kingdom (required)

Shift availability:

- Night shift (required)
- Day shift (preferred)
