The Malhotra Group PLC are currently recruiting for an Finance apprentice (Payroll / Accounts Payable) to work within the fast paced Finance Department at Head Office. The role is a fixed term full-time position based in our new Head Office in Grey Street, Newcastle with easy access to shops, restaurants and public transport.
This is a great opportunity to join the Malhotra Group, a stand out operator in the care and leisure sectors, as they embark on further ambitious development projects such as the Grey Street Development and the construction of a new care home in Whitley Bay.
**The role**
Reporting to the Accounts Payable and Payroll Manager, you will spend 75% of your time on payroll, assisting in the processing and payment of payrolls and reporting of pension contributions.
Additionally, you will be a member of the Accounts Payable team for 25% of your time with responsibility for your own set of suppliers. The role entails processing supplier invoices, dealing with and resolving invoice queries, and setting up new supplier accounts. With some development, you would also work towards preparing payment runs via BACS and carrying out supplier statement reconciliations.
**Your profile**
This role would be ideally suited to someone who has just finished studying GCSEs or post 16 qualifications and wants to take their first steps in a career in Finance.
You will be numerate and enjoy working with numbers besides having the ability to work accurately and to deadlines. Good communication and teamworking skills, and problem solving and organisational abilities are essential, besides proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and the ability to adapt to new systems.
You must have a positive attitude and desire to learn and be committed to undertake training and development activities to complete the apprenticeship programme successfully as part of your one day off the job training as well as in your own time as required. A successful outcome to the apprenticeship programme will include an AAT Level 2/3 qualification (equivalent to NVQ Level 2/3). In order to qualify for an apprenticeship, you must not have previously studied for this qualification.
The contract will be of a fixed term nature and will last for 24 months with the potential opportunity to continue employment after that period once you have passed your apprenticeship.
