**The Role**

We are looking for a strategic and creative Bid Writer to join our London office. You will support our engineering, transport and digital services teams in the delivery of public and private sector bids, RFPs, pitch presentations and proposals. With your finger on the pulse and having gained an excellent understanding of our mission, business goals and the type of projects that we love to work on, you’ll be able to advise on potential opportunities as well as support in the creation of documents and collateral.

We’d love to speak to you if you’ve got proven Bids and Proposals experience within the Built Environment, or another related industry, and you enjoy being part of a small, highly collaborative team supporting the wider business.

You will oversee and advise on the content and templates that we use, and on best practice in terms of the look, feel and style of our bids, working with our Graphic Designer. With strong attention to detail, you will liaise with Directors and Associate Directors to help to respond to tender opportunities, including document creation, copywriting and editing. You will be responsible for ensuring all information captured is in line with brand guidelines/messaging, reflects our ethos and values and that each bid delivers the requested information.

Working closely with our Directors, Head of Marketing & BD and other stakeholders, you will manage other people’s contributions to submission documents to ensure timely completion. As fast-paced as bid work often needs to be, we pride ourselves on being a friendly and approachable practice, where we support each other and inspire each other to do our best work.

You will have excellent communication skills with an energetic and organised attitude and the ability to identify an appropriate core message and approach required for any bid.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Identify and agree priorities for bids, competitions, and tenders
- Produce bid documents and marketing material, primarily using InDesign, while adhering to brand guidelines
- Manage other people’s contributions to submission documents to ensure timely completion
- Write tailored copy, edit and proofread text for new business materials that reflect Elliott Wood’s values and tone of voice
- Act as quality control during the submission period - manage, review, and provide feedback on bids and presentations
- Create presentations using PowerPoint and advise teams on presentations best practice
- Research potential new business opportunities
- Proactively advise on the improvement of internal systems that relate to our performance on bids. This includes reviewing collateral, improvements in our production methods, and how we decide which opportunities to pursue
- Maintain image and staff CV libraries and keep track of key information about our projects
- Report on wins and losses, tracking our progress and sharing this information with the Directors

**Key skills and experience required**:

- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a bid writer and coordinating bids
- Expert at producing successful submissions and other bid documents
- Excellent English language writing skills, both technical and non-technical, with experience in writing high-quality copy, tailored to the audience
- Exceptional organisational skills, with an ability to manage a diverse range of tasks, involving different people and different activities to tight deadlines
- Highly computer literate with an eye for design and an accomplished ability to use InDesign and Microsoft PowerPoint
- Confident communicator both verbally, written and visually
- Ability to liaise with and develop relationships with stakeholders
